Continue ReadingKing’s Ridge lost much of the core from last year’s state championship team but the program looks to be in good shape with Jaydon Cole Jaydon Cole 6’2″ | SG King’s Ridge | 2025 State GA stepping into the forefront. Cole is coming off of a big summer and really proved that he can score and facilitate as a ball-dominant guard. Defensively, he doesn’t miss a beat and his willingness to communicate will go a long way with this team. He’ll take over the point for King’s Ridge this season and I expect his statistical averages to take a major leap.
Highlights
Much like Cole, Garris broke out on the summer circuit and showed us the elevated level he’s capable of playing at. He makes the jump from Centennial to Mt. Vernon with a new level of confidence and I expect him to tear it up in 1A. Garris is great off the dribble, quick to get downhill, and can score it from multiple levels. When Garris announced the move to Mt. Vernon, it solidifed them as the frontrunner in 1A-D1 as Garris should provide a hefty amount of perimeter scoring.

Savannah High looks ready to contend for a state championship as they bring back one of the most dominant scorers in 1A-D1, Maki Joyner Maki Joyner 6’5″ | SG Savannah | 2025 State #376 Nation GA . If June was any indication of what we’ll see this season, Joyner could take home 1A-D1 Player of the Year. He exploded for multiple 30-point games and carried Savannah to some big wins over notable Georgia programs. Joyner has such a smooth handle and can get to the cup in a variety of ways, also a strong three-point shooter. Kennesaw State and East Carolina have already offered.
While Rashund Washington Rashund Washington 6’4″ | SG East Laurens | 2025 State GA was once considered a sleeper down in middle Georgia, a talent like him can only fly under the radar for so long. Washington can do it all, score, rebound, pass, whatever it takes to win. He’s a freak athlete that loves to play above the rim and shines in a fast-paced game. I’d categorize him as a slashing guard but there’s really no box you can put him in. Washington is the best prospect to come out of Dublin in years and college coaches should be flocking to East Laurens to see him.
Dennis Scott returns to Mt. Vernon for his senior year hoping to end his high school career on a high note. Few teams in 1A-D1 will have an answer for Scott’s ability to score it inside and out. He shoots the three at an excellent clip and has deep range. Meanwhile, he can exploit mismatches on the block with a solid low post game. The Scott-Shegog frontcourt will be one of the best in the state this year and certainly the best in 1A-D1. As long as Scott is healthy, there’s a strong chance he earns all-state honors and brings a championship to Mt. Vernon.
