Different players put it all together at different times but these ballers are ready to make a huge leap NOW. Here’s my sweet 16 players ready to do some damage this season that you might not have on your radar.
Top 10 Ranked Markece Young Markece Young 6’5″ | SG South Grand Prairie | 2025 State TX is on mostly on this list because I just don’t hear enough about him. He showed he is a MAN amongst boys on the court. Tough defender and even better finisher, he just looked ahead of the competition. At 6’5 his size and frame give him serious advantage and mismatch issues with other wings. He’ll be at powerhouse South Grand Praire and could be a surprise stud stepping into a leading role for the team this year.
6’2 2024 Kaison Mebane Kaison Mebane 6’3″ | CG Pace Academy | 2024 State TX is an ELITE guard who’s been flying under the radar for way to long. His bag is is deep from pull up jumpers and range to his layup package. It’s safe to say he may be the most underrated 2024 prospect in the state at this point. Kaison has transferred to Pace Academy for his senior year where he’ll get the opportunity to play a national schedule which may be just what the doctor ordered for him exposure wise. Look for him to be on everyone’s radar mid season.
Highlights
Jordan Vasquez
Jordan Vasquez
6’2 Jordan Vasquez made his varsity debut mid season as a freshman and was impressive. Running the starting PG spot is tough on anyone but he made it look easy. Physically nothing special yet but some kids just know the game and he’s one of those. His IQ on both ends is pro level. He leads things with his high percent jump shot knocking down 3/4 triples a game and uses that to hit his teammates with dimes. His hands on defense are also sneaky which makes him a player that should be on your radar for a big sophomore season as he settles in as PG1.
Zion Ibekwe
Zion Ibekwe
Another underrated prospect 6’5 Zion Ibekwe could make some noise this year based off his preseason performance. He’s carried Newman Smith’s offensive load for the most part while #1 ranked Nicolas Codie Nicolas Codie 6’9″ | PF Newman Smith | 2024 State #42 Nation TX has been official visits. Strong going to rim, he’ll force contact and get defenders in foul trouble. He also has improved his pull up jumper this year and loves to show it. Defensively he can neutralize smaller guards or shift to the post to defend and rebound. Zion could be the biggest surprise this year as Newman hopes to make a state run.
2026 James Sanderson James Sanderson 6’2″ | PG Emerson | 2026 State TX is a big time guard who can score in a variety of ways without forcing shots. His IQ was most notable, playing off screens and dropping dimes to the right person at the right time every play. James already holds a couple D1 offers and should be flooded with mail by the end of the season. The versatility and IQ makes him a lock to shine this year at a very talented Frisco Emerson.

Kelvin Ihekire
Kelvin Ihekire
Kelvin is unique, he actually reminds me size and skill set wise of some of the top ranked prospects that have came out of Dallas lately. Ron Holland, Dink Pate etc. At 6’6 he can shoot it knocking down 4 triples last game I had eyes on him. He also operates the pick and roll like a true PG finding his big over the top several times. Defensively his motor is high, chase down blocks and active hands using his size advantage. Simply said, Kelvin has serious potential to become a star this season make sure he’s on your radar.
Jaylin Faison
Jaylin Faison
6’1 guard Jaylin Faison who can sometimes be overshadowed on such a talented squad has been about his business this preseason. Jaylin is a shifty guard with a wide frame that makes it tough for defenders to stop him once they are turned. He’s also knocked down the 3 efficiently as well. He could be set for a surprise season at Dynamic Prep especially if he’s settled in on taking advantage of his opportunity when he’s on the court.
Juwan Shaw
Juwan Shaw
2024 Juwan is the man. He won the 5A state title at Kimball last year and was a big part of the team being deep in the state run. He spent his summer with the Stars battling bigger programs and ranked guards and did not disappoint. Quick first step, strong defensively, high IQ and high percentage shooter/finisher from anywhere on the court. Juwan will finish the season ranked seeing that I’ve personally seen him out perform half of the top 150 in head to head matchups.
