Karsteter provides a different element than most backcourt matchups, especially physical and tenacious around the basket. One of the more effective rebounders with Ponderosa last season, the guard is always seeking opportunities to regain possession.
White is a tall guard who shows value as a shotmaker from three or down in the mid-range. Effective pivoting into position for attempts in the mid-range, Whitehead’s high release point makes him an especially difficult opponent to contest. More than capable of stretching out his shot beyond the three point arc, the senior guard is an impactful spot-up shooter. Notable for attacking the rim by using his strength, Whitehead has potential playmaking to cut forwards.
Ellwood is a high energy guard who does an excellent job attacking the paint. Especially quick either direction while handling the ball, the guard has a high processing speed. Effective finishing layups through tight windows, Ellwood can be a scoring threat if needed. With quite a few elite perimeter shooters, the senior guard will have ample opportunities setting up shotmakers throughout the season. Another area has been his defensive energy, getting low to wall off any drives at the time. As well, Ellwood gets into the opponents space quickly, creating steals at the point of attack.
Highlights
Widic is a notably strong guard, effectively getting low and bullying backcourt opponents for attempts around the rim. Playing no small part in Mesa Ridge’s recent 5A title, the guard looks to make noise yet again following an undefeated season. Capable of breaking down opponents with a few dribble moves, Widic can turn the corner and keep opponents on his hip while on the attack. Equally dependable knocking down spot-up attempts out beyond the arc, the guard possesses a refined offensive game. His strength allows him to guard up against forwards if necessary, dependable staying strong in the post when needed.
A jack of all trades on offense, the 6’5 guard impacts the game in quite a few areas. Effective utilizing his strength to attack closeouts, Whitehead has potential as a high floor complementary guard. A proactive decision maker while attacking downhill, the guard is fairly consistent keeping his head up for the next play. His continued growth in scoring efficiency this season will play a major role in his impact with Legend.
