Where Are They Now? The 2017 Minnesota Top Ten
The 2017 class was one of the deepest classes in Minnesota high school basketball so today we checked in on where the players are now
(1) Gary Trent Jr of Apple Valley (Toronto Raptors). Gary just finished his fifth season in the NBA, splitting that time between the Raptors and Blazers. Trent averaged 17.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists a game shooting 37 percent from the arc. Trent is a player we always thought would be a pro for a good amount of time, but he’s scoring in a way that I don’t think many expected him to. Excellent start to his career so far.
(2) Jericho Sims of Cristo Rey Jesuit (New York Knicks). After a solid career at Texas, Jericho was drafted 58th overall in 2021 and has spent two years in the NBA. Sims played in 52 games last season averaging 3.4 points and 4.7 rebounds a game shooting 78 percent from the field.
(3) Nathan Reuvers of Lakeville North (Spain). After a solid four year career at Wisconsin, Reuvers has been playing professionally overseas. Reuvers scored ten points a game in Spain last season.
(4) Brad Davison of Maple Grove (Lithuania). Davison played five years at Wisconsin earning all league honors twice before heading to play overseas in Lithuania last season. Brad was also named to the all freshman team in the Big Ten.
(5) McKinley Wright of Champlin Park (Montenegro). Wright was a three time all Pac 12 selection at Colorado before being signed by the Timberwolves and playing mostly with the Iowa Wolves. Last year Wright played 27 games with the Dallas Mavericks and the rest of the year with the Texas Legends in the G League. It looks as if he signed with a team in Montenegro recently.
(6) Theo John of Champlin Park (G League). John played at Marquette for four years and then one year at Duke. Last season he averaged 1.5 points and 1.5 rebounds a game for the Capital City Go-Go in the G League
(7) Goanar Mar of DeLaSalle (Northern Iowa). Mar played three years for George Mason and a year at Northern Iowa while dealing with some injuries. Scored 11 a game as a freshmen for George Mason.
(8) Trae Berhow of Watertown-Mayer (Northern Iowa). Berhow played one year at Pepperdine and four years at UNI. Berhow averaged double figures four of the five seasons including his final three seasons at UNI. A career 39.7 percent shooter.
(9) Simon Wright of Hopkins (Maryland). Simon played four years at Elon starting 35 games and shooting 37 percent from the arc for his career. Played his last season at Maryland appearing in 20 games.
(10) Myles Hanson of Chaska (Columbia). Hanson has played at Columbia, Xavier, and Stonehill. Unfortunately Hanson has dealt with numbers injuries along the way.
More
(11) Ishmael El-Amin of Hopkins (Latvia). El-Amin played four years at Ball State and one year at Rhode Island. In his third and fourth years at Ball State, El-Amin averaged 14 points and 16 points a game. Then at Rhode Island in his 5th year, El-Amin averaged 6.5 points a game shooting 42 percent at the arc. El-Amin averaged 24 points a game in 18 games last year in Latvia.
(12) Tywhon Pickford of Maple Grove (Northern Iowa). Pickford played five years at UNI and averaged 5.4 points and 3.6 rebounds for his career. Pickford started 83 games for the Panthers.
(19) Rocky Kreuser of Totino-Grace (Germany). Rocky averaged 16 points and 7/8 rebounds a game his final two seasons at NDSU and then went to Germany where he played professionally last season.
(27) Parker Fox of Mahtomedi (Minnesota). Parker was at Northern State for four seasons earning Division two All American status. Fox is in his third season at Minnesota and unfortunately has dealt with two knee injuries that have taken away those two seasons but hopefully he can have a nice season this winter.
(31) Broc Finstuen of Pine Island (Cleveland State). Broc played two seasons at a junior college, two seasons at Pacific, and then a season at Cleveland State. He averaged 11 points and six boards a game in 2020-21.
