Many of these prospects have chosen to reclass into a later graduation year too.
At Prephoops.com we will continue track all these player movements and pass that information on to our readers.
Below is the sixteenth installment in our Transfer Watch 2023 series.
Dionycius Bakare Dionycius Bakare 6'5" | SF Phelps School | 2026 State PA – 6’5″ / 2026 / Phelps School / UPlay Canada / Small Forward: Bakare is an athletic prospect who can score or distribute and plays multiple positions. In 2022-23 at King George Secondary School in Vancouver, Bakare posted 30 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks per contest. As his stats show, Bakare is an elite playmaker at both ends of the court. This week, the University of Washington provided Bakare with his first college offer.
Kamani Healey – 6’4” / 2025 / Abington Friends School / Philly Pride Select / Shooting Guard: This former Cheltenham standout (2nd Team All-Suburban One selection in 2022-23) is now enrolled at Abington Friends and reclassed into the 2025 graduate year. Healey can score at all three levels. This past weekend at the Big 64 Showcase, Healey dropped 20 points on CB East. At the other end of the floor, he is a tenacious on-ball defender.
Xavier Howard Xavier Howard 6'6" | SG Phelps School | 2024 State PA – 6’6” / Post Grad / Phelps School / SAL Blackhawks / Wing: Howard comes to Phelps School from Bellevue East high school in Nebraska. He is a lights out shooter who can hit jumpers from the baseline to the elbows to the arc. As a bonus, Howard has good quickness and solid court awareness, so he can slash to the basket for a catch and lay-in. With his length and hops, Howard is a difference maker on the baords.
Malik Hughes – 6’5” / 2026 / Roman Catholic / K-Low Elite / Shooting Guard: The outstanding play of Hughes made headlines in June at Philly HS Live and then again on the July circuit. So, his transfer from Cheltenham to Roman Catholic is major news. Hughes is an extraordinarily gifted off the dribble scoring guard. When he gets into the paint, he can finish with either hand. Hughes owns a solid dribble pull-up game too. His work on the glass (at both ends) often goes unnoticed, but Hughes consistently registers double digit rebounding games.
Travis Reed Jr Travis Reed Jr 6'4" | SG Roman Catholic | 2024 State PA – 6’4″ / 2024 / Roman Catholic / BW Elite / Shooting Guard: Last season at Frankford, Reed averaged 11 points per contest. Then this summer he unleashed a significantly improved offensive skill set and became one of the breakout stars of 2023 Check Rock League. Reed can splash threes from any spot on the court and owns NBA range. He is unstoppable off the dribble as well. When Reed is in the open court, he can score or distribute. On the break or in the half-court, Reed will not hesitate to dunk on an opponent’s head.
Jayden Robinson – 6’5″ / 2024 / Lower Merion / DBoyz / Small Forward: After three years playing for Philly basketball legend Bo Kimble at Overbrook HS, Robinson has transferred to 6A powerhouse Lower Merion. During his junior campaign, Robinson averaged 14 points and 7 rebounds per game. He scored 21 points against PCL juggernaut Neumann-Goretti. LM is getting an athletic prospect with a tremendous wingspan who thrives in transition and plays above the rim. Robinson can hit pull-up jumpers too.
