Then, looking ahead, most fall leagues don’t start until October. However, the lull in action here as the school year gets into full swing doesn’t mean that the content and coverage stops. That is exactly what separates Prep Hoops Indiana from our competition.
After the grassroots season we updated all of our prospect rankings here at Prep Hoops Indiana. We now have a Top 50 in the Class of 2026, a Top 125 in the Class of 2025, and a Top 150 in the Class of 2024. Additionally, there are nearly 500 total prospects on the three respective Watch Lists and we will soon add nearly 200 prospects to the Class of 2027 Watch List coming out of the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. There will likely be another rankings update before the high school season begins, but first we thought this would be a good time to try a new exercise. Over the next week or so we will be releasing our Top 50 prospects regardless of class in the state of Indiana.
All prospect rankings are hard to do and a very inexact science. That becomes even more true when embarking on a journey like this trying to rank them regardless of class. Do you value the “known” commodity of an older prospect or the “upside” of a younger prospect more? For the sake of this exercise, we tended to lean towards the older guys. Also, we only included IHSAA players in this ranking and didn’t include the incoming freshmen besides one who is very well known as a top prospect. Without further ado, let’s dive in and give this try!
There are few guards with more dynamic playmaking ability than Lewis. He helped to lead Fort Wayne Wayne to a semi-state appearance last season and will look to do the same this winter. The 5’9″ left-handed point guard is a big time scorer off of the dribble despite his size and is a proven high-assist playmaker both through high school and AAU.
Highlights
A recent Bowling Green commit, Pardon is an athletic, skilled guard that can flat out score the basketball. At 6’3″-6’4″ he has good size on the wing, shoots the ball at a high level, and can create some off of the dribble as well. He will look to lead a talented Carroll (Fort Wayne) backcourt that was much improved last season. The left-handed scorer is one of the best in the Fort Wayne area.
One of the more talented junior guards in the state, this Carmel product will take over the reigns to the Greyhounds offense this season and lead a young, but talented team. Couto is an excellent outside shooter, handles the ball very well, and has flashed the ability to play either on or off of the ball. He should continue to blossom as a pure scorer and a guard to watch in the Indianapolis area.
Parrish earned Indiana Junior All-Star “Core” Team honors last season after averaging over 20 points per game for Chesterton. The 6’3″ guard is an excellent three-point shooter which has brought college coaches from various levels calling for his services. Schools from the Crossroads League and Purdue Northwest have been recruiting him very hard over the course of the last year.
Rivera is a pure scorer that can fill it up from all three levels. The junior at North Central High School is a high-level shooter off of the dribble with the ball-handling ability to create separation and get his shot off from any spot on the floor. He will be one of the leaders once again for a talented Panthers team this winter. There aren’t many in the area who can get hot in a hurry as well as Rivera.
