Smith is a rising freshman and didn’t look out of place against older competition on Saturday morning. Making a couple nice pump fakes and showing patience with the ball in his hands, Smith has an advanced IQ for his age. A shooter who is ready off the catch, Smith provided good spacing for his team. Had a key offensive rebound and-1 finish to break a tie with four minutes to play that gave his team the lead for good.
Highlights
The most impressive new name of the day, Meade-Moss is an impressive athlete who did a lot of on-ball creation for his team. A good shooter off the catch, Meade-Moss made some shots off the catch and got his feet set quickly off movement. His burst allowed him to get into the paint with the dribble drive and his most impressive play of the day was a whipped jump pass to a wide-open shooter. A multi-sport athlete on the hardwood and the diamond, expect Meade-Moss to be a name you start to hear more about in the next 12 months.
Taylor Riemenschneider
Taylor Riemenschneider
Not the most talented scorer, I loved what Riemenschneider brought to the game with his intangibles and hustle. Not often you’ll see a kid take multiple charges in a fall league game, but that’s exactly what he did for his team. Hustled on the glass as a rebounder and communicated defensively. Glue guys are key in the high school game and Riemenschneider could find his way to key minutes with how he contributes to winning without needing the ball in his hands.
Sean Austin Phipps
Sean Austin Phipps
Phipps is a lefty wing who showed poise while attacking the basket and finished off two feet in the paint. Could even stretch out to the 3-point line and knock down an open jumper and finished layups created by his guards for him. After scoring just under 3 PPG for Bethel, expect a much bigger role this winter.
Maxim Cherpalin
Maxim Cherpalin
Playing in his home city, Cherpalin had a lot of success as a strong wing who showed the ability to take it coast to coast himself after a rebound. A capable shooter from the outside as well, Cherpalin knocked down shots off the catch and made the right pass. His big game was the key reason why his team came out on top in their second game of the day.
