Quebedeaux, although sporting an unorthodox release on his jumper, made an impact from deep and made defenses quickly realize they couldn’t leave him alone beyond the arc. He spotted up well, hunting open pockets of space and using craftiness to find open looks. He’s got a quick trigger to let it go as well. He continues to impress in front of PH scouts every time he takes the floor.
Highlights
Burleyson was a bit different in his shooting approach, as he immediately showed why he likes having the ball in his hands to get his shots off. While a good shooter off the catch, he made the magic happen off the bounce, getting to his spots and using his ability and quick twitch ball handling to get open looks. He splashed multiple threes per game and continued to show why he should knock them down at a high clip this high school season.
Highlights
Umstead was impressive as one of the best shooting bigs in the entire gym on Sunday. He’s great either spotting up on the perimeter or setting screens and popping from them. A solid release that is repeatable and should be usable at the next level. I like how much he’s devoted to making it a strength in his game, and it showed as defenses were quick to respect the shot as soon as they saw it go in.
Highlights
Walters knocked shots down in bunches for his group on Sunday, moving well in space and showcasing a really projectable jump shot. He spaced well in both transition and in the half court, filling the lane, finding the corner, or just moving to where he was open. His jump shot is pure and he can get it off quickly, reducing defenders impacts on his shot and making it more likely his good looks go in. He should see more action for powerhouse Myers Park this season.
Davis, as I mentioned in my Team 1 evaluations earlier, did all the right things as a point guard who could really spray it from deep. He facilitated, but more often was hunting his shot in corners and in transition as his team pushed the ball. He found a way to seemingly be open every single possession with great cutting instincts and an ability to lose his defender quickly and quietly.
