The prospects in the building displayed next-level capabilities. Headed into the fall, there are many players to keep an eye on going into the fall league season and later on into the high school season. In wins and losses, there were many players who showed they could make a name for themselves. I was able to highlight a few in my “Top 250 Standouts”.
Cameron Thomas Cameron Thomas 6'3" | PG Mount Carmel | 2025 State IL | G | Mt Carmel HS
Thomas proved to be a scoring guard over the weekend. He showed natural instincts with the ball in his hands. His team could entrust him to put pressure on the defense and draw more than one defender and capitalize on possessions. When attacking he absorbed contact and demonstrated great body control around the basket. In spurts, he was able to find his rhythm and pull up for jump shots over the top of defenders from range.
Dwayne Flowers | G | Prosser HS
Flowers’ impact had no breaks as he proved to be a two-way leader. His wing span and hustle created havoc for his opponent’s offensive attack. His foresight and activity in the passing lanes led to advantaged opportunities in transition. He was a focal point in the half-court offense, his quick first step and sturdy footwork allowed him easy baskets in the paint. He is a well-balanced prospect for his class.
Jonah Funk Jonah Funk 6'9" | C El Paso Gridley | 2025 State IL | F | El Paso Gridley
Funk was a standout athlete at the Top 250 Expo. He moved well in transition as one of the bigger prospects showcasing his skills at the event. He protected the paint at a high level. He did well switching onto guards and being able to hold his own as a perimeter defender. The mobile big man proved to be a capable lob threat in transition. His athleticism was apparent on both ends of the floor.
Jalen Crues Jalen Crues 6'6" | PF Glenbard North | 2024 State IL | G | Glenbard North HS
Crues led with his energy at the Top 250 Expo, his high motor allowed him to cruise and bring constant pace on both ends. The physically gifted wing shined when attacking the basket and finishing above the rim with ease. He proved to have next-level grit and understanding by guarding in the post and holding his own against taller matchups, grabbing boards, and affecting shots in the paint.
Jeremiah LeSure | G | Plainfield South
Lesures’ athleticism was on full display at the Top 250. He completed dunks on a consistent basis as a one-foot and two-foot jumper. The well-balanced prospect showed up in almost all the categories you could think of. He made plays on both ends of the ball and exhibited next-level hustle. Finding the lanes in transition as a scorer and facilitator, he demonstrated his ability to put pressure on the defense early and often. The hybrid defender competed at a high level and wowed the crowd all day with acrobatic finishes at the rim.
