In this series, we will be a look at some quick hitters, the top player, potential breakout player, other roster roster members and notable games of the upcoming season. For today’s spotlight, we take a look at the Richmond ‘ last=”] Red Devils
Quick Hitters
- Finished 16-7 last season.
- Lost to Pendleton Heights in Sectional.
- Billy Wright returns for 3rd season as head coach. 26-22 record as Red Devils head coach.
Top Player: Cedric Horton Cedric Horton 6'4" | SG Richmond | 2025 State #321 Nation IN
With a fantastic spring/summer, Horton has become one of the best in-state 2025 prospects and D1s are starting to take notice. Horton was recently named #30 in the top players in the state due to his talent and skill level. He is a 6’4″ athletic wing that has a real versatile skill set who can make catch-and-shoot three-pointers, attack the rim off of the dribble an elite level, and makes a living in transition. Just a lot to like about Horton’s potential.
Potential Breakout Player: Mason Carpenter
Carpenter is slowly showing that he is one of the best overall guards in the in-state 2025 class. He was easily one of the more dynamic guards in the state and loves to push the tempo with his speed getting downhill. He is excellent off of the dribble knifing his way into the paint and has some great passing ability. D1s have interest and a breakout year could see that interest grow.
Other Important Roster Members
- Ryder Cate – Cate will another wing option for the Red Devils alongside Horton. He lets it fly from the outside, but also can get to the rim and finish.
- Deante Smith – Smith is a smaller lead guard that can really push the tempo. He rebounds the ball well on defensive end and has a little scrappiness.
- Jaiden Holland Jaiden Holland 5'10" | SG Richmond | 2025 IN – Holland is a small lead guard with solid ball handles. Real shifty player that can get the defender off balance. Could see a role increase.
- Treston Bennett Treston Bennett 5'6" | PG Richmond | 2026 IN – Bennett is a guard that could see an increase in production at the varsity level. A super quick, smaller point guard, creative finisher at the rim and in the intermediate range and displays good court vision
Notable Games (Confirmed)
- vs Floyd Central (12/2)
- at Marion (12/8)
- at Anderson (2/1)
