Freshman Showcase: Team 3

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Saturday September 2nd we had the 1st annual inaugural&nbsp;<strong>Freshman Showcase</strong>&nbsp;at the Phhacility in Phx, AZ.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We had exactly 51 players total in attendance with six teams of 8-9 players on a team.&nbsp;We now look at all six teams and break down each player.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">We move over to Team 3:</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2146175' first='LJ' last='Diamond'] Desert Vista (Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lorenzo Jr can score from all levels and defend. He can euro his way to the basket or blow by his defender. He can hit the catch three or pull-up from mid-range. He handles contact well in the paint and even has the Dirk move in his repertoire.&nbsp; He can make plays with drive and kicks and is a top notch on-ball defender. He will block shots and keeps his opponents in front of him with his quick twitch athleticism.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2146269' first='Daijon' last='Grayson'] Mesa</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A quick undersized point guard with some jets. He has an incredible burst of speed he uses and a super tight yo-yo handle. He uses his shifty handle to get from point A to B. He is a good free throw shooter and he can step back from the three. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2107238' first='Dominic' last='Hawkins'] AZ Compass Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A fast scoring point guard. He can shoot the perimeter jumper with a quick trigger from the three point stripe. He has a quick burst to get into the paint and can use the backboard and make reverse layups. He can also throw a dime to a teammate.  </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2164464' first='William' last='Heinrichs'] <strong>Arcadia</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A sturdy framed scoring guard. He is a deep three point shooter who made a few shot off the catch. He was a specialist type in this showcase. He rebounds well with his stronger frame then most of the guards did.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2149108' first='Tayshawn' last='Jackson'] Perry</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A strong framed power forward. He has great hands and a good court awareness. He knew where to be on defense and sets strong picks. He will face up from mid-range and score on offensive rebound put backs.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2109031' first='Conner' last='Koester'] Desert Vista</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A high IQ scoring guard who can shoot it. He made one incredible old school move that we call the Smitty. He froze the defender with a strong hesitation move and got to the bucket. He runs court well and will hit the three with a quick release. He rebounds well in his area.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2149095' first='Amir' last='Pope'] Phhoenix Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A quick combo guard can score and make plays. He will hit tough shots in traffic despite his size with a burst of speed. He moves the ball with an unselfish nature and he is a good passer.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Zaiden Speight CG 5'5 Ironwood&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An undersized combo guard can shoot the three off the catch. He give hard ball fakes and then will go up and shoot it from mid to beyond the stripe.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2146240' first='Nickolas' last='Williams'] Fairfax</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the leading scorers from Team 3 in the two games I viewed. He is a smooth ball handler and gets downhill easily. He can pull-up from mid to the three plus he is a smart passer with a huge IQ. He has a smooth handle to burst inside to score it easily. Defensively, he has quick hands to collect steals.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
