Mid-September Bartlett High hosted the annual PrepHoops 250 Expo with wonderful talent. The following evaluations are exclusively focused on Team 2 players.

[player_tooltip player_id='2101807' first='Avin' last='Shaw'] (Valor Prep)

Really struggled with his finishing the rim, abnormally so. His finishing in June at the @PrepHoopsTN Combine was more reliable. Avin is an ok dribbler. When he got lower with his dribble, he became much more difficult to rip and poke. It seems that Shaw should lean into his height and play lower with the dribble. In his second game, Shaw changed the point of attack very swiftly a couple of times. Even more of this is possible and helpful.

Bouncy. When he engaged as an offensive rebounder, he often helped his team. Needs to develop his jumper, possibly with a shooting coach.

[player_tooltip player_id='2206218' first='Gabriel' last='Deng'] (South Haven Christian)

As he settled into the event, Gabriel became one of the most electrifying scorers. Deng is very quick with the dribble and loves to make the fancy pass or shot. Not turnover prone though. Deng can be slippery and clever.

[player_tooltip player_id='1575564' first='Kameron' last='Bowers'] (West Creek)

Elite one-on-one attacker. He confuses the defender until the last moment and then dashes by. He and BJ Boyce (Collierville) locked horns with both wonderfully devoted. Every time he senses a momentarily lapse, Bowers exploits with a carving dribble. Expects to win every matchup in front of him. He will be a special player because he despises losing and takes productive on-court action to prevent it. As much as possible.

Bowers next step in development must be outside shooting and bulking up a bit. He is tough-minded and never shies away from body contact and yet adding heft will help him endure the repeated fouls he will undoubtedly absorb throughout his high school season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2205030' first='Sheldon' last='Huber'] (Clarksville)

Plays above the rim. Bouncy. Blocked layups a few times with ferocity.

[player_tooltip player_id='2205030' first='Sheldon' last='Huber'], a 2025 prospect, was on the same team with Bowers. The 6-foot-3 guard made solid passes in transition. Huber showed off his shot-making ability, draining shots from 17-feet out to the 3-point line. Huber can get up and down the floor with ease.

[player_tooltip player_id='1539025' first='Michael' last='Small'] (Hunters Lane)

Tough. Strong. Does not let the opponent score on him down low. He was probably the only guy to stop [player_tooltip player_id='1259393' first='Jayden' last='Jones'] from dunking all day. He did foul but challenged a future superstar above the rim. Small is a forward all day and defended as a power forward. Small did not prove to be competent shooting from range.

[player_tooltip player_id='1563160' first='Elijah' last='Lussier'] (Collierville)

Tremendous event. Again. Elijah is among the most improved players in the senior class. Elijah hit open three-pointers several times, which really surprised the opposition. Elijah was vocal for his teammate when defending against high screen action. He showed a nose for the counter-attack Saturday. Lussier earned more fastbreak points than almost everyone. Considering he left from under the rim on the defensive end that is saying something. A senior, Lussier was among the most advanced players in the gym. Look for him to have a breakout year and attract even more small college attention.

[player_tooltip player_id='1140748' first='Kendrick' last='Lloyd'] (Red Bank)

Scored all day long. Faced no resistance. Lloyd showed that he is a multi-level scorer. Fantastic slasher. Powerful at the rim. Moderate outside shooting success. Not a weak link as a shooter, but not an elite shooter.

Kendrick dominated his first game with the dribble and his strength.
