Continue ReadingOver the last year or so, we’ve seen a huge step forward in the development of Aiden Weaver Aiden Weaver 6’4″ | SF Etowah | 2025 State GA . No longer just an athlete, Weaver is proving capable of being the primary playmaker at Etowah this year and while we saw him go for 30+ in June, it was his passing that shined on Tuesday night. Weaver was aggressive getting to the basket all game and when the defense started to collapse, he racked up the assists on dump-offs and kick-outs. With a number of D1s beginning to take notice, Weaver has one of the highest upsides in the 2025 class.
Highlights
The microwave scoring ability of Josh Dixon Josh Dixon 6’0″ | PG Milton | 2025 State #185 Nation GA was on display Tuesday night, finding his spots and knocking down tough jumpers from all over the floor. Dixon has such a quick release and won’t hesitate to punish defenders for not putting a hand up. He loves the mid-range and shoots it really well from there. Dixon and his new running mate Anthony Gause Anthony Gause 6’3″ | CG Milton | 2024 State GA should make for one of the best backcourts in the state this year.
The impact of Isaiah Cameron was tremendous on Tuesday against Kell. Cameron is an elite on-ball defender and forced Kell into a handful of turnovers. His strong, 6’4 frame combined with the length makes for a ton of versatility and he’ll be the ultimate swiss army knife for Wilson alongside a talented cast. Wilson Academy is quickly gaining notoriety on the southside and Cameron has played a vital role in that.

While Kell rested some of their top guys on Tuesday, Pope transfer Ben Lee used the opportunity to show what he’ll bring to the table. Lee is a big wing at 6’4, pretty long and rangy with a perimeter skillset that’s coming along nicely. The shooting touch was on display as he knocked down a number of shots from both the mid-range and beyond the arc. While Lee is only beginning to tap into his potential, he could play a key role for Kell off the bench.
Jojo Sonson really came alive in Wilson Academy’s second game of the night. There’s so much craftiness and creativity in Sonson’s game, passing instincts that are a rare commodity. As a ball-handler, Sonson can change speed and direction in the blink of an eye making it tough for defenders to stay in front. Heading into his senior year, some would still consider Sonson a sleeper talent but there’s no denying that he absolutely excels in certain facets of the game.
