What a pleasure it was for me to watch this team as the last game of the event.
When coming to showcase camps, the fan of the game could get weary of the type of basketball being played. It takes a special event and special kids to rise above and play the game the correct way. For the most part this event was filled will prospects that new the game and displayed their talents in the flow of each game. But like all prospects, on a multi-game day, the kids get tired towards the end of the event.
With that this game started off rough. Not playing any defense, not making the extra pass, or any passing at times, and walking on the court. It was ugly to say the least and this team found themselves down by double digits at the half. What followed next was why I got into reviewing, evaluating, and reporting on prep basketball. The kids showed a lot of character, courage, and trust to pull out a two-point victory in the final seconds of the game. Their first lead of the game I might say too.

Their contributions in an amazing second half of play:
Jakai Terrell Jakai Terrell 5'7" | CG ST. Thomas More | 2027 WI : started it all of with two very unselfish passes in a row, one of which was a great thread the needle bounce pass for a rolling player and score. Later he able to add to this passing display by keeping his head up after a rebound and delivering a Laker pass the length of the court for another score. Finally, I saw a well-crafted pull-up J in the lane for a two-point bucket.
Owen Ruppert Owen Ruppert 5'10" North | 2027 WI : He took a charge in the closing minute of a showcase camp game. HE TOOK A CHARGE, in a showcase camp. This might’ve been the single greatest effort that I saw for the day, and it had me jump out of my seat.
Jackson Albee Jackson Albee 5'11" Mukwonago | 2027 WI : Definition of work. This kid was everywhere in the second half. Scored out of a screen & roll to the hoop. Played high pressure defense out top, ran the floor, multiple tough finishes, and rebounds.
Jayden Phillips Jayden Phillips 5'11" | PG Nicolet | 2027 WI : If found myself writing down the word “handles” for this prospect three separate times. Not that he is Kyrie Irving, but I enjoyed his approach, especially, when under pressure he wasn’t afraid to use his body and physicality to create the space he needed. I was also impressed with his pressure defense and court vision.
Colton Waller Colton Waller 5'10" | PG Lodi | 2027 WI : Made a heck of a shot at one point late. He kept working under neath to finally pull off what could only be described as a fall away ‘Dirk Nowitzki’ shot in the lane. Heard the coach say “a lot of work for a layup’. It was, to the prospects credit, he made it, and it was at a crucial point of the game.
Isaiah Fox Isaiah Fox 6'0" | PG West Allis Central | 2027 WI : Made two steals and buckets off of inbound plays after made buckets. He was setting the tone with full court pressure defense and took some heart out of the other team with these steals and points.
Damir Ellis Damir Ellis 5'8" Audubon | 2027 WI : The stones of this one. First, he shows a high IQ to pull the ball back out after a failed drive to reset and go. Second, he had a really nice finish in traffic on a drive. Third, he hit a timely three late to stop a run by the other team. Finally, he does it again, hit a three that is from the exact spot as before. Only this time it proved to be the game winner in the closing seconds of the game.
