Last season, the KGE 24 camps was a huge success and the top incoming seniors got a chance to see what it would be like at the college level plus gain a wealth of knowledge in doing so. This year’s field of incoming seniors is packed with elite talent plus guys looking to get more exposure. The best players in the 2024 in-state class will be under one roof this weekend. Here is part 1 of my players to watch this weekend.
Nic Book Nic Book 6'8" | PF Westfield | 2024 State IN is one of the top newcomers in the state and has made an immediate impact this summer. Book, who is from New Zealand, transferred to Westfield from Oak Hill Academy. Incase you have not watched Book yet, he is a 6’8 power forward that has a high skill level and is pretty versatile at his position. He has shown the potential to become a consistent stretch four long term as well. He is one of the prospects I am most intrigued to watch go up against some of the top 2024 bigs this weekend.
Jevon Lewis comes into this weekend as one of the top 2024 guards in the northern Indiana. After originally listed as an alternate, Lewis will get to come in here showcase his dynamic skillset. As a left-handed point guard, Lewis is an excellent finisher for his size around the basket, can fill it up from deep, and displays good court vision as well. He will prove this weekend why he is one of the bigger stock-risers in the in-state 2024 class.
When it comes to the top 10 in the Prep Hoops Indiana 2024 Rankings, Rutland may be the most overlooked player. As a 6’1 shooting guard, Rutland has a lot of “combo guard” in his style of play with his ability to make plays both on and off the ball. He can score at all three levels of the court and has enough athleticism to attack the basket and finish above the rim. Had a really good summer with D1s gaining interest and his momentum should continue this weekend.
Highlights
The 6’6 Noblesville guard/wing is one of the multiple players participating this weekend that actually plays for Kyle Guy’s AAU program. Walston is coming off a great June/July and has started to see an uptick in his recruitment. His style of play resembles a “point forward” with his ability to initiate the offense, grab a rebound and lead the break, or make plays off of the dribble in the half court. He is going to be one of the more versatile players on both ends of the court this weekend at the KGE Camp.
Highlights
Walters will always be a player on my watch lists just because he is one of the more intriguing prospects. He is a super unselfish player on the floor and always does all the little things it takes to win a basketball game. However, the one knock of him is not having that scoring mentality that is needed. At 6’5, he is another “point forward” type that you will see this weekend with his excellent ballhandling and passing. With this being a camp setting, I am hoping to see him try to score much more than what he does too often.
