August 21st-22nd Cedric Cobb Sr and I had the 6th annual Southwest Basketball Camp at the Phhacility in Phx, AZ. 120 players from four states came to gain exposure in front of college coaches and scouts plus compete versus some top end players over the two days.

Each player competed in 5 games for the two days plus 60 competed in an extra All-Star Game. (Top-20, Top-40 and a Non-Senior All-Star Game)

We start breaking down each team.

Next up is Team USC

Zion Donnell PG 5'11 2024 Nanakuli/HI

A pure point guard who makes plays for others with super unselfish attitude. He has a tight handle in close spaces and will throw the strike. He can hit the three point shot plus step back on his defender. He often cuts when he should and scores on run outs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1285501' first='Cezer' last='Sotomayor'] ALA Gilbert-North

A combo guard who scores the ball very easily. He plays at his own pace and is very hard to speed up. He can hesitate and get to the basket and blow by his defender to score with either hand. He has a nice spin move and is consistent as a catch three point shooter.

[player_tooltip player_id='1782224' first='Jackson' last='Chapman'] ALA-Ironwood

A point guard who is a good ball handler and passer. He plays from the neck up and knows the game. He plays hard and seems to be in the passing lanes often. He gets on the glass well for his position and was a possible snub for the Top-40 All-Star game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2133597' first='Maximus' last='Romero'] Valley Vista

A good sized combo guard can score and hustles on defense with a big motor. He can hit the catch three and squares up perfectly. He rebounds well and plays with high energy on both sides of the court.

Mason Daffron PG 5'11 2024 Premier Prep Tucson

And long and lean point guard is a team player who can hit the catch three. He moves the ball and will hit the open perimeter jumper.

[player_tooltip player_id='1976306' first='Jayden' last='Davis'] Desert Edge

A tough left handed wing is tough and fearless. He has a sneaky quick first step and will score thru contact. He defends multiple positions and he doesn't need the ball to affect the outcome.

[player_tooltip player_id='1274847' first='Adam' last='Hubbard'] Canyon View

A combo guard who is a natural scorer. He is a sneaky good passer but prefers to put the ball thru the net. He can hit the deep three plus make tough shots in traffic. He can crossover and then side step into a deep jumper and has the tough Dirk move. He shined as the MVP in the Non-Senior All-Star game and was just as good in the Top-40 game after he moved up.

[player_tooltip player_id='2092765' first='Carmelo' last='Adkins'] Phhoenix Prep

A strong combo guard has a good handle and can create any offense he wants. He will fall away from mid-range and rise up from the three point line. He can use either hand and kiss it off the glass.

[player_tooltip player_id='1896209' first='Adam' last='Grissom'] Phhoenix Prep

A physical wing forward with elite size. He is an easy athlete and can score it from all levels. He can hit the catch three or step back on his defender. He will defend both forward spots and rebounds and blocks shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='2133111' first='Blake' last='Ammons'] Phhoenix Prep (Pictured)

A big kid with legit size 18 shoes. He obviously throws it down but he is way above the rim with lobs and impressive catches in traffic. What impresses you is his skill and hands. He can step out and shoot three and has a pretty touch around the basket. He rebounds with two hands and will block shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='2133596' first='Marcel' last='Calvin'] Paragon Academy

A newcomer for me is a scoring guard who is a fluid athlete. He can throw it down and is a good shooter from mid to the three. He will defend guards and wings with his long arms and athletic gifts.
