This article will be about the 4A Greater St Helens MVP and first team selections.
MVP: Beckett Currie Beckett Currie 6'0" | PG Camas | 2025 State WA (2025) – Camas HS
Beckett is an overall complete player. He can score at all three levels and do so different ways to give the opposing team different looks to keep them on their toes. Currie is definitely one of the best shooters in the state, sinking threes from deep beyond the three point line. He has some of the tightest handles in the state as well and does a fantastic job keeping his eyes up and finding his open teammates. Next year he will be the main ball handler for Camas and with the improvement I’ve seen over the summer, I think he’s inline for a huge junior year.
Other potential MVP candidates: Tait Spencer Tait Spencer 6'3" | SG Great Futures Prep | 2025 State WA (2024) – Battle Ground HS, Malakai Weimer Malakai Weimer 6'3" | SF Skyview | 2026 State WA (2026) – Skyview HS
First Team Predictions:
Beckett Currie Beckett Currie 6'0" | PG Camas | 2025 State WA (2025) – Camas HS – see above
Demaree Collins Demaree Collins 6'2" | CG Skyview | 2024 State WA (2024) – Skyview HS – Demaree was named to the 1st team all conference last season and has only showed a great amount of improvement since then. He is aggressive with the ball in his hands and likes to attack the bucket, with either hand. He’s one of the fastest players in the conference and is tough to stay in front. He’ll have a big senior year.
Tait Spencer Tait Spencer 6'3" | SG Great Futures Prep | 2025 State WA (2024) – Battle Ground HS – Tait is a SCORER. Just a natural bucket getter. He averaged over 30 points per game last season and should have a similar season, if not better. His overall game gets better each time he steps on the court and could very possibly win the MVP for this conference next season.
Malakai Weimer Malakai Weimer 6'3" | SF Skyview | 2026 State WA (2026) – Skyview HS – Malakai had a solid freshman year last season for Skyview and showcased a ton of overall improvement on many different assets in his game during the AAU season. He rebounds the ball extremely well, being very aggressive on the glass and battling for the ball. Weimer can score inside the paint well, finishing through traffic well. He can also step out and hit mid-range and deep shots when open.
Gavin Packer Gavin Packer 5'10" | CG Skyview | 2025 State WA (2025) – Skyview HS – Gavin is the third Skyview HS player I think will make this first team in the conference but with all the talent on the team, it is possible. Gavin earned 2nd team honors last season after his great sophomore year. Packer is a freak athlete, having insane speed and a great vertical. He rebounds well and can attack the rim with force with driving with his right hand. Even though football is his first sport, I think he has the potential to make first team.
