On Sunday afternoon and evening at Fishers High School nearly 200 of the states best Class of 2027 prospects came to display their skills in front of many of the most influential people in Indiana High School Basketball. This event is the premier way to get “on the radar” prior to your high school career. Over the next week or so it will become clear why we always say “nobody does content and event coverage like Prep Hoops Indiana.” With that said, here are the player evaluations from Team 7 of the 2023 Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.
***With nearly 200 prospects at our event, our scouting staff (of three people) divided up the 20 teams to ensure that we could get evaluations of every player. However, as you can imagine, this is not the easiest task. Our staff watched each team they were assigned to for a minimum of one full game. There were some late player additions and walk-ups that threw a wrench into some rosters as well. So, if you notice that a name is wrong and/or a player is missing an evaluation please reach out to Brandon Ramsey at coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com or reach out via DM on Twitter @BRamseyKSR and he will resolve any issues. Thanks for your understanding and for participating in the 2023 Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase!***
#252 – Andrew Pleasant Andrew Pleasant 5'6" | PG Marquette Catholic | 2027 IN – 5’6” PG – Marquette Catholic
- Pleasant is a smaller point guard who was one of the best shooters from the entire showcase. He was ready to shoot every time that he caught the ball, and his release was very quick. Pleasant also showed good touch around the rim.
#600 – Nathan Walker Nathan Walker 6'0" | PG Bloomington North | 2027 IN – 6’0” SG – Bloomington North
- Walker was another shooter who was lights out on Sunday to create a lethal 1-2 combo from the outside with Pleasant. He has a very quick release, and if the defense closed out too hard, he would not hesitate to attack the rim and finish over the defense. Bloomington North has a great young class, and Walker should be a big piece of it in the coming years.
#628 – Preston Miller Preston Miller 6'3" | SG Avon | 2027 IN – 6’2” SF – Avon
- Miller is an active wing who was looking to score on every single touch. He is a good rebounder, and he looked to push the ball on every defensive board. He made some nice passes, shot it well, and could finish around the rim. It was just a good all-around performance from Miller.
#630 – Zander Nowak Zander Nowak 6'3" | SF North Judson San Pierre | 2027 IN – 6’3” PF – North Judson-San Pierre
- Nowak is a hard worker every second that he is on the floor, and he seemed like a good glue guy for his team this weekend. He rebounded well, and he even stepped out and knocked down a triple.
#640 – Quinn Smith Quinn Smith 6'0" | SG Tipton | 2027 IN – 6’0” SG – Tipton
- Smith is a good-sized shooting guard who played some good minutes for his team. He knew where the ball needed to go on the offensive end and helped set up his teammates. It will be fun to see how he develops in his freshman season.
#648 – Kyle Edwards Kyle Edwards 6'2" | SF Whiteland | 2027 IN – 6’2” SG – Whiteland
- Edwards was a great scorer all day, and he showed a lot of talent at all three levels. He knocked down several mid-range pull-ups, and he had endless range from the outside. He was also a menace in the paint with some smooth finishes and a relentless work ethic on the offensive glass. I really liked his game!
#654 – Braylon Pippins Braylon Pippins 6'3" | PF Avon | 2027 IN – 6’3” PF – Avon
- Pippins is a big bruiser in the paint who worked hard and used his size and strength do dominate inside. He is strong on the glass and has more than enough strength to finish through contact on the inside. He also got his big body on the floor for a couple of loose balls which really showed his heart and will to win.
#878 – Caleb Flint Caleb Flint 5'10" | SG Greenwood Christian Academy | 2027 IN – 5’10” SG – Greenwood Christian
- Flint kept with the theme of Team 7 as a bunch of guys who could light it up from the outside. He was consistent all day long, and he seemed to always be ready to let it fly. Greenwood Christian always seems to have great shooters who are true three and D guys, and I think Flint could be next in line for that title.
#881 – Jordan Hendricks – 5’9” PG – Whiteland
- Hendricks is a great athlete who used his quickness and agility to get to the rim. He was always looking to get inside and his touch around the rim allowed him to finish around the bigger defenders. He has a lot of potential thanks to his excellent athleticism, and an outside shot could really enhance his development going forward.
