The Prep Hoops Michigan Freshman Showcase took place over the weekend. The talent level was impressive to say the least. Let's take a look at some of the player evaluations from Team 9.

Blaine Crist (2027, 5'11", Edwardsburg)

Crist probably made his biggest impression on the defensive end. He really read shooters and the ball very well. Crist was able to see the shot, close out and challenge it. Crist rotated on D and was a reliable help defender even blocking a shot at the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='2141008' first='Brayden' last='Williams'] (2027, 5'11", Wyoming)

They've got something in the works in Wyoming and Williams is a testament to that. He has the look of a high upside wing. Williams is slippery with the ball with the ability to smoothly glide by defenders. He does a great job at finding and creating paths to the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140504' first='Joseph' last='Raper'] (2027, 6'0", Warren Cousino)

Raper definitely drew some eyes to his game at the PH Freshman Showcase. He was very comfortable and effective in the open floor. Raper did a great job filling a wing in transition of giving options to the ball handler at the head of the break.

[player_tooltip player_id='2141003' first='Isaiah' last='Taylor'] (2027, 5'8", Catholic Central)

Taylor was turning some heads at the Freshman Showcase. He was very quick on the defensive end, reading the passer and getting deflections. Taylor showed some ball skills with a reverse score in traffic. He also proved that he had the ability to put points on the board in a hurry.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140532' first='Thomas' last='Humes'] (2027, 5'5", UD Jesuit)

Humes could continue a tradition of skilled guards at UD. Humes had some of the most impressive straight line speed with the ball in the gym over the weekend. Humes can hit that next gear that puts defenders on their heels. He showed the ability to play strong and finish through contact as well.

Braylon Williams (2027, 5'10", Saginaw Heritage)

Williams proved that we should all be excited about seeing his game over the next 4 years. He's an athletic kid that can get up off the ground. Williams can play much bigger than his height. An example of that is he how when he gets up and after a rebound. Williams has nice handles and blow by speed to the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='2423103' first='Xavier' last='VanWagner'] (2027, 6'4", Carrollton)

VanWagner was a new face to most of us at the event and man are we glad he was there. He has a ton of talent and upside as a post player. VanWagner is strong and physical, but has extremely nice touch and soft hands when he has the ball near the rim.
