Michael Kahl (2027, 6’0″, Saginaw Heritage)
Kahl did a great job showing off his game at the event. He definitely drew attention to his jumper and made defenses account for him and closeout strong. He was able to hit more than a few 3’s on the day and looked very comfortable pulling up off the bounce.
Dylan Wood (2027, 6’1″, John Glenn)
Wood is a really talented player that college coaches are going to want to be aware of. He’s a very efficient 3 level scorer that can attack the D in a variety of ways. Wood has the strength to finish through contact and range that extends beyond the arc on his jumper.
Ben Geerdes (2027, 6’2″, Caledonia)
Geerdes had himself a day on Sunday. First of all, he was a gritty player that provided energy for his team by battling under the boards and showing a willingness to hit the floor for a loose ball. Geerdes showed off a pretty mid range jumper and put it up with power under the rim.
Drake Elliott (2027, 5,7″, L’Anse Creuse North)
Elliott will definitely be a player to watch through his high school career. He runs off screens very hard and does a great job moving without the ball and finding open space around the perimeter. Elliott really forces the defense to move.
Ace Walters (2027, 5’11”, Brother Rice)
It will be fun to watch this talented player develop his game in the coming years. His defense stood out to me at the event. He was a high effort defender that was willing to get after it on that end. Walters played smart defense, using angles to steer his man away from the rim.
Gibson Rondy (2027, 6’0″, Ithaca)
Rondy was fun to watch at the Freshman Showcase. He was very comfortable and effective playing off a pick and roll. Rondy was really good cutting to the rim, catching a pass with strong hands and finishing at the rim.
Lundon Hampton (2027, 6’1″, Lumen Christi)
Hampton is going to have some fun highlight reels to watch in the next few years. He’s a very bouncy athlete that can simply make plays that a lot cannot. Hampton showed off a nose for the ball around the rim and ability to go up after a rebound and get high percentage put backs.
Dean Lewis (2027, 6’2″, Walled Lake Western)
Lewis showed off some very real skill and talent on Sunday. He had solid handles that helped him create space from his defenders. Lewis was able to utilize that space with a very nice looking pull up jumper. He even showed 3 point range off that pull up.
Jeremiah Smith (2027, 6’3″, Summit Academy)
Smith was a strong and versatile player at the Freshman Showcase. He can score both facing the rim and backing down smaller mismatched opponents. Smith sets really strong screens and is a very solid passer. He rebounds with strong hands as well.
