The Prep Hoops Michigan Freshman Showcase was a terrific event over the weekend. Their was a lot of high level talent in the gym. Let's take a look at some evaluations from Team 10.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140472' first='Brayden' last='Carpenter'] (5'8". Three Rivers)

Carpenter is a very nice young player that will have a great high school career. He was steady and dependable with the ball every time that I saw him play. Carpenter made good decisions and made high percentage plays.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140484' first='CJ' last='Hairston'] (5'9", Royal Oak)

On a team that was very deep with talented guards, Hairston was still able to stand on his own. He could be found making smart and effective passes at the showcase. Hairston played with his hair on fire on the defensive end with good tough D.

[player_tooltip player_id='2277485' first='Justin' last='Gibson'] (5'9", South Lake)

Gibson definitely turned some heads in Grand Rapids. He had the look of a high level slasher that found lanes to the rim. Gibson was able to finish from mid range as well as at the bucket scoring through contact and drawing a foul.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140061' first='Carlos' last='Gomez Jr']. (5'9", Lansing Waverly)

In my opinion. Gomez Jr. was one of the most prolific passers in the gym this weekend. He not only used the bounce pass, but he was able to knife it through traffic for a pretty assist. Gomez Jr. saw the court and saw the action often hitting teammates in stride.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140523' first='Nasir' last='Lagrande'] (5'11", Lumen Christi)

Lagrande made me raise my eyebrows when watching him play at the showcase. He played bigger and stronger than his size. Lagrande was able to power up through a finish at the rim and finish through contact. He also showed the ability to get on the glass and get put back opportunities.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140494' first='Eli' last='Wolfe'] (5'7", Rockford)

People went home from Grand Rapids talking about [player_tooltip player_id='2140494' first='Eli' last='Wolfe']. This young man is going to be fun to watch. His handles are underrated, but probably because people focus so much on his jumper. Speaking of that jumper. It looked elite over the weekend. Wolfe looks like he already has volleyball line range and he can hit it off the bounce.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140475' first='Brehm' last='Warczinsky'] (5'9", Vestaburg)

Warczinsky made himself and his game seen at the Freshman Showcase. I liked the way he naturally filled open space on the wing in transition. Warczinsky seemed to have an instinct as to where he was needed on the break.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140488' first='Dawson' last='Derocher'] (5'9", Howell)

Derocher could make a lot of noise over the next 4 years at Howell. He really seemed to play an under control and high IQ game. I loved the way he was willing to follow the ball handler in transition and he deservedly benefited from it with at least one bucket.
