With around 80 players across eight teams formulating the roster, there was some great talent. Here is the evaluations of the top shooters from the event.
Mike Dugas
Mike Dugas
Mike Dugas showed that despite his height disadvantage, he can make a big impact. He was a reliable shooter for his team. No matter the game situation, he remained cool, calm, and composed. This was transparent when he knocked down a three pointer right before the buzzer. He knocked down multiple threes over the two games that I saw him play in. Not only was his impact his shooting, as he also made an impact with scoring inside several times and acting as a playmaker. He would drive the gaps and kick to the open man when they were open. He made an impact in multiple areas of the game.
Tyson Pogi
Tyson Pogi
Tyson Pogi is an elite shooter and player that has a chance to become one of the best shooters in the state of Oklahoma. Over the weekend, he showed the focus and skill to knock down several tough shots. He would pull up from the mid-range to knock a contested jumper down or he would knock down threes when he had an ounce of space. He showed the ability to score inside, but his bread and butter was his shooting.
Angelo Estes
Angelo Estes
Angelo Estes made an impact almost immediately when he stepped on the floor. He started off by knocking down a three from the corner. He then knocked down another three a couple of minutes later. He showed a smooth jumper and he shot the ball with confidence. In limited time, he showed that his calling card appears to be as a shooter. To go along with the shooting, he grabbed a couple of rebounds.
Jordan Watkins
Jordan Watkins
Jordan Watkins made an impact in multiple areas of the game, but his biggest impact came from his shooting. He knocked down multiple threes over the course of the game that I saw, with one of them being a stepback three. Whenever the defense would close out hard on him, he would drive the closeout, where he found himself finishing inside a couple of times. He was also running in transition, where he scored. Not only did his impact come from his shooting and scoring, he had a couple of assists throughout the game. He was not afraid to play defense, where his size and length helped. He would utilize his length to guard the perimeter or to help inside. He was able to come away with a steal. His impact was on both ends of the court.
Kade Lee
Kade Lee
Kade Lee is a player that caught my attention in the one game that I was able to see him play. He established himself as a shooter. He knocked down a couple of three pointers in the game, but one of them was not a normal three. He rose up to shoot a three. Despite being hit in the air and knocked to the floor, he had the focus to complete his shooting motion. As he was hitting the floor, the ball was falling through the hoop and the whistle was blowing. He had completed the 4-point play. It was an impressive play and was the only one that I saw out of six games on the day. He also had a rebound in the game to go along with his scoring.
