Continue ReadingLate yesterday news hit the internet as well as social media that George School standout combo guard Christian Bliss will forego his final year of high school eligibility and enroll at the University of Virginia this fall. Bliss noted that he will redshirt at UVA for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
Joe Tipton of On3.com was first to report the breaking news on Bliss.
In mid-June Bliss (our No. 3 ranked 2024 prospect) cut his list to four schools — Villanova, Virginia, Miami, and Xavier. Then in the first week of July Bliss announced that he had picked UVA. Landing Bliss was a major “get” for the Cavaliers.
This past season Bliss averaged 20 points and 5.2 assists per game while shooting 43% on threes. He led George School to the Friends School League title and a runner up finish in the PAISSA state tournament. Bliss poured in 39 points during the FSL championship game. Bliss was outstanding throughout the PAISSA state tourney as well. He posted games of 25, 23 and finally 29 points in George School’s state title game loss.
After the 2022-23 season Bliss was named the Non-PIAA Pennsylvania POY. He also was a 1st Team All-FSL selection for the second consecutive year. This past winter Bliss surpassed the 1,000-point scoring mark for his career.
The departure of Bliss is a significant blow to the George School lineup. Highly ranked big man
