Arch Madness Top 15U Point Guards

Here is a look at some of the top point guards in the 15U division from last weekend's Prep Hoops Arch Madness, which was held in Chesterfield, MO.   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/08/IMG_5244.jpeg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/08/IMG_5244.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-2111444" /></a></figure>   Kinyun Johnson (ABC Elite): The 6'1" 2026 point guard was the straw that stirred the drink for a talented ABC Elite team that won the 15U championship in convincing fashion. He has very good quickness and a nice feel for the game. He is an excellent on-ball defender who moved his feet well and had quick hands to hawk the ball and harass ball handlers. He handled the offense expertly as he distributed the ball to his talented teammates in their comfortable spots on the floor. He could also get a bucket when he needed to as he could knock down the open 3-pointer and score on a penetrating drive in the lane.     ******   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/08/IMG_5069.jpeg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/08/IMG_5069.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-2111445" /></a></figure>   Isaac Sanders (Oklahoma Chaos): A 6'1" point guard who has a good combination of quickness and physical strength. He could muscle smaller guards into the lane for buckets or he could be defenders with a quick first step off the dribble. He displayed three-level scoring ability in the game that I watched him. He was attacking the basket early, but he dropped a pair of clutch 3-pointers in the closing minutes of a close game that went into overtime. He is also an excellent defender who sits down and moves his feet to keep people in front of him.     ******   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/08/IMG_5122.jpeg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/08/IMG_5122.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-2111446" /></a></figure>     Cooper Craig (Midwest Basketball Central - Craig): A 5'11" point guard who was one of most impressive passers that I watched during the weekend. His court vision and passing was elite as he knew his teammates were open before they knew they were open. He was very good in the pick and roll with his ability to make the pocket pass. He also had a couple of no-look feeds that were tremendous. He also had the physical strength to get into the lane whenever he looked to attack. He was very good at operating off two feet in the lane and scoring around the basket.     ******   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/08/IMG_5071.jpeg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/08/IMG_5071.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-2111462" /></a></figure>   Cooper Wright (Pocket City): The 5'9" 2026 point guard helped lead Pocket City to a berth in the championship game. He has speed and quickness to go along with his excellent court vision. He was equally capable of dropping nice dimes in the open court in transition or in a half court offense. He made some good pocket passes in the pick and roll along with a few excellent bounce passes to backdoor cutters. He is also a capable scoring threat who can break down defenders off the dribble and hit the mid-range jumper.     ******   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/08/IMG_5139.jpeg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/08/IMG_5139.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-2111463" /></a></figure>   [player_tooltip player_id='2541249' first='Kaiden' last='Asberry'] (MO Legacy): A 5'10" guard from Neosho High (MO) who displayed some good all-around offensive skills during the weekend. He scored 22 points in the game that I watched and he got his buckets in a variety of ways. He knocked down three 3-pointers and he was also very effective on the drive and he scored layups and floaters. He also operated well out of the high post as he could turn and wiggle his way through tight spaces. He was very good at probing the defense and applying constant pressure with his ability to drive.     ******   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/08/IMG_5144.jpeg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/08/IMG_5144.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-2111468" /></a></figure>   Julius Jackson (Clippers Premier Black): The 5'6" guard from Chicago was one of the quickest players that I watched in the 15U division. He was a tough cover because he could blow by defenders with his speed to score on layups or he could pull up and knock down 3-pointers. He was also an excellent finisher in the transition game. He displayed some good passing ability as he was able to thread the needle through the lane on a few occasions. He was disruptive on defense with his ability to shoot the passing lanes for steals and transition buckets.     ******   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/08/IMG_5032.jpeg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/08/IMG_5032.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-2111472" /></a></figure>   Will Wolf (Mavericks G-Elite 1): A 5'10" 2026 point guard from Orchard Farm who does a good job of distributing the basketball, which he likes to do best. When he looks to score, he can penetrate into the lane and he is a capable 3-point shooter. He also had a nose for the ball as he was able to sneak in and get a few offensive rebounds when folks weren't paying attention. He has nice handles and was able to touch the paint with his dribble penetration quite often. He had a nice runner in the lane as well as a the pull up jumper. He is a talented young player who will be a factor in Mid Missouri for years to come.
