With the 2025 class preparing for their junior season of high school basketball, we put a fresh update on our rankings for that class. In this piece we dive into guys outside the top 25 who raised their stock.
Dallas Washington Dallas Washington 6'10" | SF Santa Margarita | 2025 State #395 Nation CA-S , Santa Margarita
Washington looked really good in his increased role as an interior scorer for the Eagles this summer. At 6-feet-9 with fluid athleticism and some touch out to the three-point line, the rising junior didn’t always take advantage of his size around the basket. With an increased emphasis on him impacting the game in the paint it allowed Washington to get easy buckets and expand his game. Washington moved up from 33 to 26 in the latest rankings.
Zion Paleo Zion Paleo 5'10" | PG Orange Lutheran | 2025 CA-S , Orange Lutheran
Paleo is one of the top true point guards in the region and his combination of elite pace and command for the position make that possible. The 5-foot-10 junior has the ball on a string, uses change of speed and direction to get paint touches and is always a willing passer and creator. Paleo rose seven spots from 46 to 39.
Owen Verna Owen Verna 6'2" | SG Mater Dei | 2025 State CA-S , Mater Dei
Verna is widely known as one of the better catch and shooters in SoCal but he showed that he has much more game than that over the course of the spring and summer. Verna is a capable playmaker on straight-line drives after attacking a bad closeout and plays off of two feet when he gets a paint touch. The 6-foot-2 guard is also a solid on-ball and team defender which helped him jump up to No. 41 after previously being slotted at 47.
Jaden Erami Jaden Erami 6'2" | CG Bosco Tech | 2025 State CA-S , Bosco Tech
Erami’s 27-spot rise – from 75 to 48 – was on of the biggest in the latest update. The 6-foot-2 guard might not have the size and athletic gifts as some of his classmates but his feel, basketball IQ and ability to create shots for himself and others makes him one of the more effective playmakers in the region. Erami has an uncanny knack for making tough shots and is a crafty finisher around the rim.
Trent Minter Trent Minter 6'5" | SG Los Alamitos | 2025 State CA-S , Los Alamitos
Minter made a huge leap in his sophomore season as he became the go-to guy at Los Alamitos. The 6-foot-6 swingman is another one of the region’s best shooters off the catch and has great size and length to go along with his quick release. Minter averaged 14 points and eight rebounds per game last season and that production, and his impact on winning, is what earned him a jump from 56 to 48.
