Kellan Humm Kellan Humm 6’0″ | PG Pius X | 2024 State NE made a name for himself this summer with Lincoln Supreme . After playing behind some seniors last year at Pius X, he will have a much larger role for his squad this season. Humm is an incredibly crafty guard with a tight handle and pretty jump shot. He is also a gifted passer with great court vision and understanding of the game. Just last night, Humm picked up an offer from Coach McKeithen of Doane University. Expect his recruitment to continue to grow into the fall/winter.
Highlights
Quin Weatherholt Quin Weatherholt 6’3″ | SF Lincoln East | 2024 State NE was very productive for Lincoln Supreme this summer. Every time I saw him play, he did very well. He’s the type of player that brings a lot of different things to the table. Weatherholt is a more than capable scorer and shooter from the outside. He also is a scrappy player with a knack for getting steals and causing pressure defensively. Last year, Weatherholt was the 4th leading scorer at Lincoln Northeast, averaging nearly 10 points per game. Northeast featured Porter Bazil and Christian Winn, who are now going on to play college basketball. This season, Weatherholt will be transferring to Lincoln East, where he will have a much larger role. If he can build off of how he played this summer, expect Weatherholt’s name to gain some traction around the state.
Adam Searcey Adam Searcey 6’1″ | CG Pius X | 2024 State NE is the second Pius X player mentioned in this article. Last season at Pius, Searcey was the second leading scorer, averaging over 9 points per game. He is a quick guard that does a great job of getting downhill and into the paint. He is a skilled finisher around the rim, and a knockdown three point shooter, especially off of the catch. With the majority of their roster coming back, Pius will look to improve greatly from their 14-11 record last season. Searcey will play a large role for the Thunderbolts, and will look to lead them to a very successful season next year. He is a prospect to track over these next couple of months.
Quietly, Malual Kong Malual Kong 6’5″ | SF Gross Catholic | 2024 State NE put together a really good summer for NHE. With a couple of his other teammates receiving a lot of attention on the offensive end, Kong found his role and thrived in it. He scored in a variety of ways, including in transition, attacking the basket, and shooting the ball from behind the arc. He is a long, athletic, and super mobile wing with a ton of energy- especially on the defensive end. He is great at playing in the passing lanes and getting out in the break after steals. In addition, he is an underrated shot blocker around the rim. While he plays for a smaller school, he is still a super talented prospect with a high upside. Look for his recruitment to pick up late.
Ziah Brown Ziah Brown CG Lincoln Southeast | 2024 State NE is another athlete I think is particularly underrated, especially on the recruiting trail. He is a tall and lengthy guard with a lot of skill. While he is mainly a two guard, he is also capable of handling the ball and playing some point guard as well. Brown has a nice pull up jumper, and can hit from the outside as well. He is long enough to finish over the top of smaller defenders, and does a great job attacking the rim. He played with Lincoln Supreme this summer, and started to get hot late into the grassroots season. While he did not get much action last year at Lincoln Southeast due to the amount of talent on the roster, I am positive that he will have a much more productive year this season.
