There are teams all throughout the state that have aspirations of a Championship in March, and these players could a key reason why. Let’s take a look at some of the Top Rising Seniors in Class 4A:
Riverside’s Julen Iturbe Julen Iturbe 6’8″ | PF Riverside | 2024 State #234 Nation SC tops a stacked list of the Top Ranked Players in Class 4A. Julen is a Hybrid Forward that has a good handle and can score from all 3 levels of the floor. He has a strong frame with both good feet and hands and will dominate mismatches in High School Ball. Julen had a good summer playing with Team Curry on the UAA Circuit, and recently announced his Top 5: Lehigh, Bradley, American, Vermont, and Boston.
Highlights
Another Upstate Star is featured at the Top of the 2024 Class, Justin Ray Justin Ray 6’3″ | SG Eastside | 2024 State #317 Nation SC . Justin is one of the premier scorers in 4A, and on his night there are few in the Class that can guard him. Ray has good athleticism, a terrific handle, and is very creative at creating space for his jump shot. Justin’s talent has a lot of people excited about what Eastside can do this season in 4A. He currently holds offers from USC-Upstate, Western Carolina, Wofford, Queens, East Tennessee State, and the US Naval Academy.
Highlights
Ladontae “Boogie” Felton makes the list as the 3rd Top 10 Player in Class 4A. Felton will be in a new uniform this season, making the move to South Aiken this summer. Boogie is a great athlete and has a strong physical frame, but is also a smart player with the ball in his hands. He gets to the rack at ease and can finish with through contact or with either hand. Felton is also an active defender and loves to get out in transition after forcing a turnover.
Highlights
Jamarie had a very productive summer during the Scholastic Period with South Florence and the Grassroots Periods with a few of different teams. He eventually found a home with Upward Stars SE 3SSB Pee Dee, and the fit was great. Brown has one of the longer wingspans of any guard in the state, which is a huge plus on the defensive end. Jamarie is also a more than capable scorer on the offensive end, and a highlight waiting to happen at the rim.
RJ is one of the quickest guards in the entire state. He showcases this in the open court, in the half-court offense, and in on-ball defense. Simmons’s speed puts pressure on defense every possession, but when you pair it with his Basketball IQ it makes for a nightmare for the opposition.
Lugoff-Elgin’s Jeremaih McCain Jeremaih McCain 6’3″ | CG Believe Prep | 2024 State SC excels at turning defense into offense. He has good length and athleticism to cause problems for ball-handle, and then strength and determination to get downhill. Lugoff-Elgin could be a dark horse team in Class 4A, so look out for McCain and the Demons in the upcoming season.
Jayden Pretty Jayden Pretty 6’6″ | PF Ridge View | 2024 State SC rounds out our list of the Class 4A Super 7. Pretty had a very productive Grassroots Season with Carolina Pressure , one of the most successful teams in the state this summer. Jayden is very fluid in his movement on the court, and also has sound feet and soft hands. He is also polished on the offensive end facing up or with his back-to-the-basket, and is a great offensive rebounder.
