Zy’Ierre was almost unstoppable when attacking the basket in Minnesota Select’s first game of the weekend. He used his speed and shiftiness to make one move, to then blow right by his defender to get inside. He is never the tallest player on the floor, but is not scared to attack and absorb contact from larger opponents. Stewart is also very valuable to his team because of his ball handling and defensive presence.
Jalen was on fire in last night’s win. The 6’1” guard is such a gifted scorer and has a deep bag of moves he can use to creatively create separation from a defender. When he gets that space, he can get shots off very quick, making it awfully difficult for opponents to get quality contests. Langsy was letting it fly in the second half and completely took over when Fury needed someone to step up.

Now a member of the 2024 class at Combine Academy, Dylan showed his experience and craftiness in Friday night’s action. He can change direction in a flash and was leaving on-ball defenders in the dust all game. He is so good at keeping defenders guessing, being able to go right or left, as well as get downhill or step back for a shot from the perimeter. Omweno is running with Minnesota Lightning this weekend.
Ryan used his combination of size and skill to attack the rim and finish through contact, making it look extremely easy. He was taking advantage of weak close outs from defenders, instantly making his move when he caught a kick out pass from a teammate. The 6’4” incoming senior can finish at the basket with either hand and has the ability to score in transition as well as in half court situations. Such a dynamic player.

Max led his team to a hard fought win on Friday night over United Hoops, scoring a game-high 16 points. He is very quick and keeps defenders on their toes with his almost automatic pull-up shot in the mid-range. He is also a very good finisher and can use his athleticism to hang in the air and alter his body to avoid being blocked by a larger defender. Lorenson has been a standout just about every time I have seen him play this spring and summer.

This Minnesota Fury Zurn team has so many options to go to score the ball and last night Jay served as one of their primary shot creators. He connected with a couple pretty looks off the dribble, not being phased at all when shooting off balance or with a hand in his face. He was effective getting to his spots in the mid-range and also had some tough takes to the basket, battling his way through traffic to convert.

Brogan stepped up when his team needed him most with a full speed layup to win the game with a couple seconds remaining. Down by one, he got the ball and attacked the basket without any second thought, blowing right by his defender for a relatively easy finish. The Mankato East incoming junior also connected with a three in the second half and handled the ball a large percentage of the time. Madson plays the game with zero fear and has been very impressive all season.
