Brian D. Stewart II
Brian D. Stewart II
The first thing that stood out to me about Stewart was his defense. He stayed with his man through every step and nobody, no matter how quick, could get by him. He channeled Mutombo and racked up several blocks which was fun to watch. I always appreciate athletes that put as much energy into their defensive game as their offense. On the other end of the court, I noticed how well he moved without the ball. He used his impressive speed to be the first one down the court and find his spots on several occasions. Stewart was able to bring the ball up the court effectively for his team with an excellent handle. He was also dangerous from 3, sinking multiple attempts in his defender’s face.

The court vision that Short possesses was the best I saw all weekend. I’m not sure how many assists I witnessed on his behalf, but I know it became too many to count. He’d find teammates cutting to the basket, on the fast break, open on the 3-point line, you name it. His defensive hustle was impressive and he never lost sight of his assignments. Short displayed a high basketball IQ when in play formations without the ball and altering his shots when finishing on the fast break.
Nash had the best pass I saw all weekend. Wasn’t sure if it was him or Mahomes when I saw him literally QB the ball the full length of the court to his teammate on the fast break for an easy bucket. He displayed impressive ballhandling with his ability to go coast to coast and was also skilled in battling his way out of defensive traps. What I loved most about his game was his fearlessness. He was not afraid in the least to bang in the paint and draw contact on nearly every shot attempt. He was solid from the free throw line and displayed a quick first step and a killer crossover. Nash also displayed a nice shooting ability with excellent form on his jumpers.
Jaxon Huff
Jaxon Huff
Huff was one of the best 3-point shooters I witnessed in the tourney. His team went undefeated and his range was a big reason why. He was incredibly speedy and excellent on the fast break as well. On 50/50 balls, he always came up with the rock and showed no lack of hustle whatsoever. His high basketball IQ shined with the way he would always find his spots on the court. Reminded me of Steph a bit. Huff showed no hesitation or fear when he was open and also displayed his knowledge of when to pass up a bad shot for a better shot.
Devin Morales
Devin Morales
Morales was another player who was deadly from 3 in the tournament. He also showed the ability to draw contact on his jump shots and pull down some extra points for his team. He always seemed to make the heads up play and was a force on defense, racking up multiple steals. Morales was an excellent spot-up shooter with impressive accuracy, even with hands in his face. He knew exactly where to find his spots on the court to give him the best shot available.
