There were multiple events with hundreds of coaches and scouts in Vegas to see prospects in person one last time. NorCal had good representation at all the events. Here we have prospects who stood out while we were there.
Wheeler is having a breakout Summer, he’s been showing consistent guard play on both sides of the ball. He’s defending at a high level, using his foot speed, quick hands, lengthy arms and determination. He’s confident with the ball, quality handles with bursts to go by defenders to challenge bigs, and finish at the rim with toughness. He’s knocking down the mid-range, making solid passing around the court, and in transition. He’s trending up.
Highlights
McKenzie has the handles and quickness to generate buckets from most angles on the court. He’s a quality shot maker from mid-range off the dribble, and out past the 3pt line. He creates for others using his quickness forcing the defense to react. He readily gets into the paint for points.
Lewis played well when we watched. He was active on the boards, he moved well without the ball cutting to the basket for finishes around the rim including reverses, and a dunk, he made his free throws. He was aggressive going after blocks and rebounds in the paint. He looked comfortable putting up corner 3’s.
Highlights
Hutchins has good size and an improving skill set that produces points in the paint. He has an improving 3-point range and looks to put up 3’s in the corners. He looks a bit stronger and will get his share of rebounds on both ends, he had a good amount of put backs.
He’s one of NorCal’s top prospects. He draws coaches attention with his size, ball handling, and passing. He’s 6’6, and uses his dribble to get into the paint for points, short jumpers, and good touch around the rim, he draws contact and makes his free throws. He has vision, and is willing passer in transition. He knocked down corner 3’s. He handles and passes along the perimeter.
