Some of these guys put up big points, some guys showed impressive skills, and others hustled/did the little things that caught my eye. All in all, we have a great group of basketball player to highlight.
See below for 15 ballers that looked good on Saturday morning!
He stood out as an athletic lefty. Shahid made plays as a slasher and he also hit 3-pointers. He was great about jump-stopping in the paint and playing off two feet. It is nice to see a young player get deep in the paint, and go up strong, instead of going off 1 foot and hoping for something good to happen. Ali elevates quickly to the rim and his 2nd jump on putbacks is even more impressive. Ali has has all the pieces to be a quality baller.
He blocked/swatted shots on defense and he also created TO’s. The long and athletic Bruin was productive on the O-glass and that led to putback points. Abakar did most of his damage off the dribble, he also hit a 3-pointer, scored via the cut-n-catch, and he hit a few FT’s. Abakar impressied me with his shake-n-bake moves, he left many defenders in the dust on the way to the hoop. In transition, Abakar flies down the court and he is athletic to the rim. He covers a ton of ground off the dribble. I thought he passed the ball well and played hard. Abakar looks like a star on the rise.
He played with a ton of heart and energy. This Bronco is relentless and he was always attacking. It seemed like Cordero tried to make an impact play on every possession. He attacked downhill to create for teammates. Cameron was good about finding shooters on the wing. Cordero hit a 3-ball, stole the rock/scored in transition, and produced points via slash-n-score. It seemed like Cam always had his defender on his heels and I admire that in a player. It was a good showing for the hard worker from Lisbon.
Highlights
He is advanced physically when it comes to strength and muscle. Hamilton attacks off the bounce and he scored with a sweet floater from mid-lane. He also knocked down a 3-pointer from the baseline off the catch. Hamilton looks like a legit 3-level scorer. When penetrating, Michael looks to create and get others involved. Here we have another Bruin with a large amount of potential.
He passes the eyes test with his strength, mobility, and the way he carries himself on the court. Josh appeared to be a hustler this morning. He secured a multitude of offensive rebounds because of his hustle and extra effort. Barjolo caught my eye with his skill, vision, and unselfishness. When slashing along the baseline line, Josh threw multiple 1-handed lefty passes off the dribble. They were accurate as well! Later in the game, he did the same with his right hand. I like when players standout out by doing something other than scoring. Josh did it with O-rebounds, hustle, and passing.
He led the team in points with 12 but that is not the main reason he is in this article. BIG Jon stood out because of his length, size, skill, and athleticism. Roubideaux does the traditional post player stuff like rebound, play interior defense, and protect the rim. He also slashes from the wing, has fancy feet when finishing, and he can hit the 3ball. Jonathan finishes off both feet in a variety of ways. BIG Jon has sky-high potential.
Highlights
He stood out to me because of defense and rebounding. On several occasions, the opposing team attempted to score at the rim and Corbyn went straight up and walled-up to the rim. He made it difficult on the opposition and he did it without fouling. Fallingsted is active on the glass and appears to be grinder as a rebounder. On offense, Corbyn passed and moved the ball as a selfless teammate.
I was told that Flavin was on the verge of having a monster game and that is exactly what happened this morning. Early on, Kaden delivered a no-look dime that was reminiscent of Steve Nash or Jason Williams. Multiple times, Flavin sliced through the D like a hot knife going through butter and he dished assists at the end of the play. He also scored around the hoop. His best bucket came in the first half when a defender came across the lane to block the shot, Kaden flipped it up and over the D, and he kissed it off the glass for a basket. It was a sick finish! He also cut for baskets. We can not forget about his shooting. Flavin cashed in from beyond the arc. I like his flow, skills, and swagger. This kid is a baller.
This was my first time seeing Carter and he is legit. He has long arms and is athletic. Tamari is a hustler, creator, and a playmaker. His best play came in the first half. His teammate shot and missed, Carter went up with 1 hand, somehow grabbed it, and threw it out to a teammate on the wing. He did it all in the air and in 1-motion. His teammate made the 3-pointer, it was a crazy play! Carter slashed to beat the D and he showed unselfish eyes. It appeared that his head was always on a swivel. Tamari got after the boards, gobbled up loose balls, hustled, and he dove on the floor. His biggest shots came late in the game from the charity stripe. Carter knocked them down and he put the game on ice.
He had a big scoring game and was all-around impressive. Helm did scoring damage inside and out. As a bigger guard, Kaiden shot over defenders and he scored after contact. I was impressed with his footwork when attacking, alluding defenders, and scoring in tight spaces. Helm is a serious threat from beyond the arc and he is tough on defense.
He looked bigger and stronger since I saw him in May. Rice appears to be a nice athlete that is reliable on D and he does not backdown from anyone. Cody shot the ball well, he cashed in multiple triples. Rice had a crucial steal and score late to help seal the victory. This Rancher is a nice player.
He was the high-scorer in the game. Angau went off for 26 points and he hit a handful of 3’s. John was hot in the first half and he helped build the Bears Tail lead. Angau buried triples off the dribble and catch. He was also very productive slashing and attacking the hoop. The Mustang shot well but it was nice to see him not settling for threes. John looked like a true scorer today.
Highlights
He had a couple massive rim-rocking dunks and I of course did not have my camera ready! Wylee was cruising through the air and hammering the ball home. He ran the floor hard and finished. Delorme did not just dunk, he drove to the hoop and scored around defenders multiple times. Wylee also delivered an unselfish alley-oop lob pass to Paye for a wham. Delorme recently committed to Mary and he certainly looked like an NSIC athlete today.
He scored in double digits, got after the boards, and produced AND1’s. The D1 commit was also passing the ball like a PG. Paye was throwing alley-oops trying to get his teammates involved. Erick hooked up with Wylee on one of them. Paye had is own fun. He threw down an oop and he hammered home a 360 dunk. Paye is a beast!
He is a team player and a glue-guy. Aufforth did not force the issue, he did the little things, and he scored when opportunities were there. He appears to be a hustle-guy that will do whatever is asked of him. Camden produced points with a pull-up 3-pointer from the top of the key in transition, he grabbed O-boards, and he put in an AND1.
