He has the skillset and high level of confidence that puts him in a mindset where no one can stop him. His ability to create space on the perimeter combined with a quick release means it's tough to stop him from getting off a clean look in isolation, and he has the ability to heat up quickly knocking down a handful of jumpers in just minutes. Against [program_tooltip program_id='2075467' first='ET21' last='Buckeyes'] he embraced the challenge of defending their top guard, and also showed he wasn't afraid to come down the other way and utilize his frame in the post for some physical buckets. Throughout the first half against [program_tooltip program_id='2075314' first='Big' last='3 Basketball'] he was consistently establishing deep position, providing an easy target for his guards, and scoring over the top with a simple hook shot. Does a great job of maintaining balance through contact to finish at a high rate. He had a monster first half rattling in threes and maneuvering his way into the paint to create for his teammates. As the smallest player on the floor, he uses that to his advantage to get into gaps in the defense in ways that not many guards can. He constantly had his defender chasing him around, and caused a bunch of confusion as he weaved in and out of defenders before either opening up a shot for himself or a teammate. Even when dribbling through traffic his eyes are constantly scanning the floor as he looks to make the right play. He's a scrappy defender who constantly pressures the ball, and has great instincts to go double team or jump a passing lane to pick up steals. Even when his risks didn't pay off, he has the quickness and work ethic to immediately get back in the play and defend. Was able to turn those steals into easy points on the other end while also finding success getting to the rim off the dribble. He moves very well for a player his size, and did some intriguing things off the dribble. Able to attack from the wing or handle it a bit in the open floor. When Ross caught on the block he had to be immediately double-teamed or else he was going to get a very high percentage look right at the rim. At 6'4 he offers a solid frame on the wing and a bunch of confidence in his shot. He drained four 3's in the first half, and these weren't just wide open looks. I watched two of his games on Sunday, and defenders had a hard time matching his combination of length, athleticism, and smooth handle that allowed him to score from a variety of different spots. Has the athletic burst to blow by you and get to the rim to finish, but if you sag off he can elevate for a smooth pull-up jumper.
