Prep Hoops was in the house for both days of on court action. Here we examine it in JT Elite Camp: 2024 Prospects Pt 1!
Ace Bailey (McEachern, GA)
Bailey lived up to his status as one of the premier prospects nationally in the 2024 class. At 6’8” the Georgia native has tremendous size and athleticism on the perimeter. Won off the bounce with straight line takes, sweeping layups, and up and unders. Also showed off a smooth pull up game especially from two with hesitation dribbles rising over defenders with ease. He was a force in transition with his long arms covering so much ground with finishing ability around the hoop. Length causes problems on the defensive end including several times completely stopping elite wings from getting in the lane. Made an early commitment to Rutgers.
Carter Bryant (Centennial, CA)
Bryant is a well built 6’8” combo forward that plays with a lot of power, skill, and athleticism. The Arizona commit showcased all three putting in a good two days of work. He displayed a feathery touch on his three point shot, powerful moves off the bounce, and athletic pop around the rim. Really liked his mid-range game. Showed some passing on the move as well. What I liked most about Bryant was his mindset. He is precise and intentional with everything that he does. Whether that was in drills or in games he was always doing the right thing!
VJ Edgecombe (Long Island Lutheran, NY)
At 6’5” this two guard continues to impress scouts and decision makers at the next level beyond with his smooth game. Crisp pull up jump shooter that can rise up from anywhere on the floor. Good handles creating off the bounce and drives hard at the rim with the ball in his hands. Active on ball defender as well.
Bryson Tucker (Bowie, MD)
Tucker was Mr. Consistency. Might not wow you with his athleticism, but his skill level is off the charts. Showed it off in drill work as well as with his play in the games. He was excellent as a shooter especially from the mid-range pouring them in one after another with his mid-range shots, turnarounds, and step backs. Sound passer and overall playmaker that made good decisions with the ball. Defensively he can check multiple spots and is a sound technician on that end.
Billy Richmond (Camden, NJ)
Richmond was a prospect I didn’t know a lot about coming into the camp. The two guard is a southpaw that has a slick game off the bounce finishing with nifty scoop shots around the hoop to go with a crisp pull up jumper that was on point. Also shot it at a super high level off the catch from beyond the three point arc. Quick and concise release with little movement and repeatable mechanics. Was probably the best pure catch and shoot guy at the event.
