Continue ReadingIn its third year the Huffman Elite Camp put together a talented and deep field. It was slightly bereft of the top level Northern Michigan talent. However as you will see below. Some players from the Tri-cities area came up and filled that void. It also allowed for a new perhaps more unheralded group from Northern Michigan to show they can play with anyone.
Following are the prospects from the 2025 class that stood out. To break it up a little I’ll divide it up into all camp teams
First Team
PG: Lincoln Lockhart Lincoln Lockhart 6'1" | CG Traverse City West | 2025 State MI 6-0 Traverse City West Continued what has been an excellent spring and summer with a good performance on Tuesday. Was more of a facilitator last year on a rebuilding West squad. Has shown more assertiveness and scoring ability with the West Michigan Lakers . Still has a pretty slender frame as he approaches upperclassmen status. However that does not keep him from attacking the basket. Gets to his spots easily with a tight handle. Highly competitive player who doesn’t back down from anything.
SG: Carter Kerby Carter Kerby 6'0" | PG Frankfort | 2025 State MI 5-11 Frankfort I’m going to slide Kerby to the two spot for the necessity of this article. Don’t be confused though. He is a straight up point guard prospect in the long term. That being said. Within this setting. Was able to show off his scoring ability a little more than usual. Breaking someone down off the dribble is never going to be a problem. The flashy ball handler can do that with the best of them. As a little used freshman had a unique release on his outside shot. Has really smoothed that out in the past year. That shows his work ethic and ability to adapt. Will battle with Lockhart (see above) and few other prospects for a spot at top 2025 class in the region.
SF: Ben Rodenbaugh Ben Rodenbaugh 6'3" | PG McBain | 2025 State MI 6-5 McBain Saw this player a lot in the past few weeks. Coming off a good performance at the Last Dance in Chicago. Rodenbaugh continued to play well in Manton. Has always been a physically advanced wing. The rest of his game is starting to catch up to his athleticism. Has a strong drive game and is a creative finisher around the basket. Can go either way and has obviously put in the work on his game. Is a good ball handler. Played the point out of necessity last season. Will be a wing at the next level. Should get to play there more this year (see below) Might be the best long college prospect on a talented McBain team.
PF: Dempsey Cull Dempsey Cull 6'7" | PF Flint Powers Catholic | 2025 State MI 6-5 Flint Powers I don’t want to make it sound like Cull has not improved in the past few years. Because he has. Especially in transition and driving to the basket. However at Tuesday’s camp. He continued to show what I have seen sine he was a middle schooler. Cull (and his twin) is simply a pick and pop wizard. Shoots ball with such ease from beyond the arc. Does it with very little wind up and just a simple flick of the wrist. Has excellent perimeter footwork and catches the ball in the shooting motion.
C: Sean Wesolek Sean Wesolek 6'6" | PF Bay City John Glenn | 2025 State MI 6-6 Bay City John Glenn As a post with such advanced ball skills. Really excels in this type of setting. Gets to show off his fundamentally sound game. Has excellent footwork and a soft touch around the basket. Good passer, especially out of the high post. Next step will be increasing his elevation to the rim. It’s not necessarily poor right now. He finishes at the rim and can dunk with power. However at 6-6 could be a little quicker. I have little doubt that will come with the work ethic he shows. High academic prospect who will play somewhere at the next level.
Second Team
PG: Tristan Demlow Tristan Demlow 5'11" | PG Grayling | 2025 State MI 5-11 Grayling This one comes with a bit of an unfortunate caveat. Looked like he was just starting to warm up during the scrimmage portion of the camp. Then a twisted ankle ended his day. I really like this players game. Is an old school pass first— and second point guard. Passes with purpose and velocity. Not the tallest prospect. However I wouldn’t call him small. Has a thick frame with broad shoulders. Plays with quickness and burst. Just would have liked to have seen a little more from this prospect. Hopefully the ankle heals quickly. As he was slated to play at the Brawl for Ball this weekend.
SG: Aidan Koetje 5-11 McBain Literally and figuratively gets lost a little bit in the size of the deep Rambler roster. Away from the giants. He actually looks a little bigger than what I remembered from the regular season. I’m going to keep him at his listed height. However I wouldn’t surprised if he was a little bigger. Additionally also played with more strength and confidence. Comes from a coaching family and more importantly plays like it. Doesn’t make mistakes and plays within himself. About the only thing the McBain lineup is missing is a traditional point guard. If he can develop into that role in the next two years. That would be huge for both his team and his development as a possible prospect.
SF: Kaleb Musselman 6-2 Manton Originally from the area. Musselman is transferring back after a few years playing in the Eastern Tennessee. Played at a high level there. Still seems to be getting adjusted to somewhat new surroundings. Built like a football player (he is pretty good there) However shoots the ball with a soft touch. Creates space around the basket with his sturdy wide frame. Long term future is probably on the gridiron. Should be a good an addition to a rebuilding Manton program.
PF: Zander Nash Zander Nash 6'7" | SF Imlay City | 2025 State MI 6-7 Imaly City (pictured) Another player from The Process who continued his strong spring and summer. Might have the most athletic upside on that deep and talented squad. Is a long and very lanky prospect. Has a legitimate backcourt skill set at 6-7. Next step will be adding strength to his lean frame. Is a good shooter who can use his size to easily shoot over most defenders. Like his club teammate Wesolek. Is a continuously improving player who obviously puts in the work.
C- Jesse Cull Jesse Cull 6'6" | SF Flint Powers Catholic | 2025 State MI 6-5 Flint Powers I’m going to be completely honest. Scouting twins can be very difficult. I could copy and paste everything from above from Dempsey and put it here. They look and play very much alike. A physically advanced shooter who I stuck at the center position just for the purposes of this article. Will be a long term stretch four prospect. With the improved ball handling and movement they have both shown this spring. Could even go the TJ Nadeau (Detroit Catholic Central) route and become legitimate wing prospects.
