Perimeter defense is essential more than its ever been. With that in mind here are players from the 2025 class who excel in perimeter defense and do it at a high level.
Blackley is a do-it-all type of player when it comes to the defensive end as he can guard multiple positions. His ability to stay strong in front of shooters giving them little breathing room is how he creates turnovers. Blackley can pick off passes within the blink of an eye and will look to poke the ball free from behind if he gets beat off the dribble. He can also get over screens more often than not which leads to so many contested shots he forces.

Linstra is a defensive disrupter when it comes to taking the ball away from the other team. His best trait on defense is stopping full-court outlet passes on fastbreaks in which he is excellent at intercepting the ball. Linstra is great when it comes to helping out with traps and double teams. His contests on shots are what make him a full disrupter on defense which he seems to do well without fouling.
Highlights
Miller plays defense with a lot of pride and intensity which are exactly what you need in today’s game. He likes to sneak up behind players when they aren’t looking during inbounds passes which he uses to go right back up for an easy layup. Miller has long arms which give him a great advantage to pick off passes. He can also switch onto anyone on the perimeter and stay strong and upfront with them not letting them get into the paint.
Ghee is a lengthy player which makes him a lockdown defender because of how he can guard any position and seemly come up with steals all the time. He likes to pick off passes and run in transition. Ghee will full-court press you the whole game if he needs to giving you little room to do anything. His contests and getting over screens are great which makes players on the other team difficult.
Bradley will pressure and follow you the whole game giving legibility zero room to get any shot or clean pass off. He can play in zones where he likes to poke the ball free on the perimeter to get out in transition. When it comes to rotating over for help defense or switching to a bigger player Bradley will look to cut off the pass before the play develops. His speed is also a big factor when it comes to perimeter defense as he can keep up with anyone on the court.
