These guys could probably have been on a number of the lists we compiled over the last 10 days. But it was their versatility that struck us the most, so we made a list just for them.
Here are some of the most impressive “versatile performers” we watched this spring (in alphabetical order):

We saw a lot of impressive players this spring, but Crawford (pictured) might just be the most impressive of all when it comes to athleticism and versatility. He’s combines great length, size, strength and skills with the ball. For his size, Crawford is really skilled at putting the ball on the floor to drive and dish to a teammate. He loves to slash from the wing and drop the ball to a cutter or a post. With his array of talents, the ceiling is sky high for this rising sophomore.
Franklin Ekue

Not many players had such an equal impact on both the perimeter and in the paint this spring as Ekue. He defies a position because he frequently has the ball in his hands like a point guard, yet he makes plays in the paint just like a power forward. Ekue can handle it, distribute it, and post up. He does a remarkable amount of damage close to the goal and on the glass for a guy his size. Even with a talented team around him, it was surprising how much of the time it was Ekue making plays.
An athlete who popped on the radar this spring is Emmott. He has the athleticism to guard just about every spot and to make plays in every way. He can create his own shot and finish at the rim. He can body up posts, pick off passes in the air, and block shots. He understands you don’t have to shoot a lot to impact the game, and he sets up his teammates.

Holmes is a long, explosive wing who can do a lot of things on the court. He can shoot it from outside, get into the lane and hit the jumper or score at the rim, or dish to teammates. He tallies several assists per game with his vision and touch. He also rebounds and is a really disruptive defender. This is a rising junior who should take a big step forward next season.
Humphrey has everything you need to be a versatile big man. He’s got the frame to play center and body up in the post. He’s got athleticism to run the floor, put the ball on the floor and slash to the goal. And he’s a true threat from deep. Whether he’s playing varsity as a sophomore or playing up with PGUHoops, Humphrey competes with older players and makes plays in every facet.
A guy who really jumped out this spring, particularly for his speed and agility running the floor, Porter is an interesting big man. He catches well on the move and finishes with power, explosion and coordination. He plays big around the rim on defense and rebounds effectively. In the midrange, he can hit the jumper, drive to the goal or dish it to a shooter.
