We covered top ball handlers and shooters. Now we’ll look at top scorers, guys who find a variety of ways to put points on the board.
Here are some of the top scorers we watched this spring (in alphabetical order):

Most will not be surprised to find Carter’s (pictured) name on this list. The guys is a talented scorer who can shoot, create, get to the rim and draw fouls. He has a nice midrange game, creating space with a fadeaway and good elevation on his jumper. Carter is more than just a scorer, but his ability to create for himself earns recognition here.

Johnson impressed at an event this spring with several games in which he took the scoring load on his shoulders. He showed creativity and relentlessness, when his team needed an answer. He had a bag of tricks like the Euro step, step back and fadeway to get off jumpers. He attacked on the bounce and drew fouls. And he knocked down shots from deep.

This small guy really impressed with his ability to create for himself. He’s a slicer and slasher off the bounce, not intimidated by the size of the opponent or the traffic. He can get to shots off the bounce and get them off from a variety of angles. He’s quick and springy and fearless.
After gaining a lot of varsity experience as a sophomore, Reed is now expanding his game. He certainly knows how to get shots off in the paint, even against much taller defenders. He’s a bull and knows how to get an opponent on his hip. He can power his way to the goal or hit the midrange jumper. He draws fouls to get to the line too.

One of the more exciting scorers we watched this spring, Timmons has the whole offensive repertoire. He is deadly from the perimeter and lights-out from midrange. He’s athletic enough to get a lot of buckets in transition and off turnovers he forces. As the only freshman to get any time with the Falcon varsity last year, Timmons may be ready for a role next season.
