June 21st-22nd I watched the inaugural Section-7 Qualifier. There were 96 teams in 12 pools of 8 teams each.

The 12 winners advanced to the official Section-7 Friday-Sunday versus some of the top teams in the West Coast.

Here were some of the top PG's I viewed:

[player_tooltip player_id='2039490' first='Noah' last='Adkins'] ALA-Ironwood

A jet quick pure point guard is always looking up trying to dime his teammates. He is undersized but he has a very quick first step and he can hit the three. His tight handle allows him to get past his defenders despite his size. He transferred over from Valley Christian and will help them immediately.

[player_tooltip player_id='1220362' first='Donovan' last='Beard'] Dobson

A scoring lead guard is facilitating more as he is getting older. He pushes the ball up the court, moves the ball and uses his speed to get into the lane. He can hit the catch three, pull-up off the dribble, post up and fall away and blow past his defenders to get to the rim to score with advanced body control. He rebounds well for a guard and had maybe 18 points in the 1st half.

[player_tooltip player_id='1580567' first='Oshea' last='Bonner'] Saguaro

A powerful point guard is a plus athlete. He is tough on the ball and has incredible open court speed. His on-ball defense is next level stuff. He has a good feel, plays fast and can hit the catch three with real range.

[player_tooltip player_id='1491232' first='Dru' last='Carter'] Carl Hayden

An old school pure point guard with the ball. He has a nice inside package with runners, floaters and tougher layups. He can hit the three off the catch and just guides the team to a tee. He is consistently finding players on the break or the half court set.

[player_tooltip player_id='1570935' first='Kyler' last='Frye'] Higley

A scoring lead guard can hit the catch three and has a quick burst. The transfer from McClintock will infuse immediate offense into their lineup and will be very reliable putting points on the board all season long. When he is rolling he is fast in transition and hitting deep threes.

[player_tooltip player_id='1482211' first='Noah' last='Gloor'] Higley

A scoring point guard gets the ball out of his hands in a blink of an eye. He is tough, he makes shots and competes on defense despite his size. He got knocked down hard on the floor and got up like it was nothing showing how tough he is. He fights for rebounds like he is 6'4+ with a great motor. He handles pressure well and his floater is polished.

[player_tooltip player_id='1591734' first='TJ' last='Harris'] Paradise Honors

A quick on quick scoring lead guard is a tough cover. He can rattle in the catch three with range and is very hard to keep in front of. He has a runner, he blows by his opponents and quick on the ball defensively. He still looks young and don't be surprised if he keeps growing. His handle and skill make him one of the better 2026 PG's.

[player_tooltip player_id='1425099' first='Kaleel' last='Kelly'] Willow Canyon

A well-built true point guard was beasting opposing guards in the qualifier. His power with his super tight handle and build allowed him to get into the paint and punish defenders inside to score thru contact. He is always in full command of the offense and can hit perimeter jumpers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1986796' first='Peyton' last='Lubash'] San Tan Charter

Lubash shines again with one of the most clutch shots in the qualifier. Under 20 seconds to go, he hit a big three created by himself from nearly the volleyball line. He has a super quick release and comes with a tighter handle. Not many have the confidence to shoot that, let alone an incoming freshman. He will be fun to watch the next four years with his video game like range and handle.

[player_tooltip player_id='1832786' first='Marcus' last='Murray'] Sunrise Mountain

A very fast point guard can jet by his defenders to the rim. He loves using the floater and can hit the catch three. He controls the pace of the offense and dimes his teammates along the way. The ball is on a string for him and he plays the game from the neck up.

[player_tooltip player_id='1542272' first='Michael' last='Payne'] Walden Grove

A thicker guard can hit the three, get downhill and score thru contact. He is a very confident lead guard who controlled the tempo of the game. He is a physical on-ball defender and can slither the ball into a teammate and he actually splits defenders well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1305181' first='Tommy' last='Randolph'] Phoenix Christian

Arguably the most powerful lead guard in the AIA. He is a downhill star with power and incredible body control in the air. He will get a step on you and flush it down. His speed on the break combined with his strength is hard to match. He also rebounds and defends at a high level. He picked up heavy interest during Section-7.

[player_tooltip player_id='2039491' first='Kamari' last='Stanbury'] Gilbert Christian (Pictured)

A newcomer is a pure point guard with incredible speed. He ran the team like you should and they knocked off some good teams along the way. He drives and kicks it to his shooters and is always in control of the pace. He makes his free throws and his speed is obvious in the open court.

[player_tooltip player_id='2039488' first='Tion' last='Wright'] Carl Hayden

Another newcomer for me can hit the catch three with a quicker release and has a tight handle. He is a very slick passer with his left or right hand. He uses his speed and handle to create separation to get a clean look. He has a floater and rebounds inside to score on put backs.
