Stefan Cicic Stefan Cicic 7'0" | C Riverside Brookfield | 2024 State IL 2024 (Riverside Brookfield) 6’10
The Riverside Brookfield big man opened some eyes early Saturday morning. Stefan was always known to play well with his back to the basket, carving out space to catch the ball deep in the paint and score easily. What we also saw from him was how quick he looked on his dunk attempts and that he’s been working on his range as he hit two three-pointers in the contest.
Nick Allen Nick Allen 6'9" | C Bradley Bourbonnais | 2025 State IL 2025 (Bradley Bourbonnais) 6’10
As it was my first real look at Allen he impressed me with how he adjusted his game in his matchup with fellow 6’10 big man (Cicic). With Allen giving up quite a few pounds to Stefan he wasn’t able to play much in the post, but what he did was make quick plays around Stefan to score contested layups and jumpers. Nick looked like he is still improving on the court and with a full two seasons to get experience.
Camden Cerese Camden Cerese 6'2" | PG Lake Park | 2024 State IL 2024 (Lake Park) 6’2
As I walked into the gym, Cerese seemed to already be on a roll against the younger Whitney Young guards. Cam does an excellent job at getting to his spots out of the Lake Park offense. He scored every way to keep his team close. Cerese has an advanced IQ of the game and it showed Saturday morning.
Jason Jakstys Jason Jakstys 6'10" | C Yorkville | 2024 State #141 Nation IL 2024 (Yorkville) 6’9
A very good outing from Jakstys. He started the day with a three from the corner, and from there on he attacked at the rim. Most of his damage was off missed shots where he just always seemed to be where they came off the rim. Jason has good hands and touch. His best move of the day was a mid-post spin move back to a right-hand finish. He finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and several blocks against Curie.
Bryce Salek 2024 (Yorkville) 6’5
Salek was another bright spot for Yorkville. He had the motor going practically the whole game. He made several momentum plays, most in transition, as he has quick instincts in the passing lanes for steals that led to some rim bending dunks. Bryce has a strong upper body and quick twitch reflexes. His two baseline drives where he finished through body to body contact is what left a lasting impression on some small school coaches.
Alioune Mbaye Alioune Mbaye 6'7" | PF De La Salle | 2024 State IL 2024 (DelaSalle) 6’7
Alioune is a player that we saw at the end of Spring in St. Louis and we praised him for how fundamental he was for a big. Today was no different as Mbaye did a great job scoring in the post. He used strong jump hook shots and offensive putbacks to get him started. As the game when on he high pointed rebounds on defense and even blocked a few shots as well. Mbaye had several schools circle him down for future reference.
