At first, it’s hard not to get behind the SD Identity 17U team. They were playing a rare team-ball, considering the circumstances. A new program, just feeling itself out, came to play ball at Battle of the Lakes. Dominant wins with high energy, execution, and effort.
Lane Tietz Lane Tietz 5'11" | CG Groton | 2024 State SD – 6’0″ G (2024) – Groton – Offers from Dakota Wesleyan University and Dakota State University. Lane is not a huge kid, but he has an electric game and skill-set. He was a consistent producer throughout the tournament, with games of 15,17,22, and 18 points for a team-leading 18.0 average. A playmaking passer and will make plays on the ball, defensively.
Lukas Morgan – 6’6″ F (2024) – Brandon Valley – Morgan also hold offers from both Dakota Wesleyan and Dakota State. Good size and strength. Does damage in the paint, but can also play on the perimeter and hit a three. He was 4-14 for 29% from deep. Rebounded the ball, pulling down 7.3 per game. I believe he translates with what he’s doing now — being a presence in the paint, with the ability to step out and shoot the ball.
Trey Maaland – 6’0″ G (2024) – Deuel – Trey has great quickness, movement, and fluidity on the court. He shot the three well, going 5-12 for a team-leading 42%.
Seth Hamilton Seth Hamilton 6'2" | SG Spearfish | 2024 State SD – 6’1″ G (2024) – Spearfish – Seth was impressive, averaging 11.0 ppg. throughout the four-game event. He was 4-11 from three for 36%. He was getting in the lane to score and making cuts to the hoop without the ball.
Jordan Uhlir Jordan Uhlir 6'6" | PF White River | 2024 State SD – 6’5″ F (2024) – St. Thomas More – Jordan is a long, slashing wing type of prospect. He’s a kid worth taking a shot at if you’re a college coach because of his frame alone. If he expands his individual offense and playmaking with the ball, he could become a more polished player. He can jump and is springy. Crashes the boards, relentlessly.
Nic Marshall Nic Marshall 6'1" | PG White River | 2024 State SD – 6’0″ G (2024) – White River – Nic brings a steady game with experience on the court with Class B powerhouse, White River. At Battle at the Lakes, Marshall was the team’s third-leading scorer at 11.3 ppg.
