One. WOTN Mitchell for Two!. WOTN Mitchell came into this event 11-13 on the season with a few nice wins but more Ls than they would like. Out of nowhere they beat the second best team in South Dakota Wednesday night (SSA White) and then they knocked off defending champion Totino-Grace who had their big names, on Thursday. The run was cut short by Minnesota Rush but that’s a couple huge wins for WOTN.
Two. West Central United . The Wisconsin Crusaders 16s are one of the best teams in Wisconsin and for WC United 16s – who have had a really good year – to defeat the Crusaders in the opening round really stamps their status as a top ten area team in Minnesota’s 16u division.
Three. Crossfire Young. In the opening round match-up the 6th best team in the state (SW MN Stars) played the 11th best (Crossfire Young). The Stars won the game as they were the favorites (they went 3-1 this weekend losing to the runner-up) but the Crossfire bounced back to win three straight games including wins over the Rise, Crusaders, and ECI Select who is a solid team.
Four. Comets Allen. Comets Allen has had a good year and their wins over SSA’s second team and the West Central United team we talked about earlier are quite impressive. They are listed 18th but they have a chance to make quite a jump after the win over WCU and they also have the SW Stars game going on right now.
Five. WOTN Foley. Very good weekend for the WOTN Foley 15s who beat the Rise and Starks Elite and only lost to the top Comets team by a basket and lost to SSA by two scores. They’ve come a long way.
