However their underclassmen talent at Sunday’s camp was outstanding. Following are five that caught my eye.
Clayton Hueker 6-5 2027 McBain (pictured) Full disclosure. I live not too far from the rural community this player hails from. I had been told by many people he was really good. That being said I was not expecting what I saw Sunday afternoon. Absolutely nothing about this players games said “eight grader”. He was physically one of the better players in the camp. However there are a lot of good athletes. This young man knows how to play the game. Was able to counter when defenses took away his first and even second option. Has a good handle and is able to easily rise above defenders with his size. Good ball handler who did not dribble into trouble and seemingly was always in command of what he wanted to do. Showed a soft touch from perimeter. Really showed the full package as a 2027 prospect. Will be very interested how develops over the next four years. There is so much to work with already.
Braylon Frantz Braylon Frantz 6'1" | PG St. Clair | 2026 State MI 6-1 2026 St Clair I have spilled a lot of ink already over this prospect in the past. I don’t apologize for it. I think he is that good. When I first saw him last fall. He fit more of power guard mold. With accompanying powerful drives to the basket. One year later he appears to have thinned out and settled into more of traditional point guard role. Still attacks the basket without fear. Is a clever finisher with an uncanny ability to hang in the air. Coming off an excellent freshmen season and spring campaign with REACH. Continues to trend towards possibly being one of the top players in the 2026 class.
Isaiah Guyton Isaiah Guyton 6'6" | PF Godwin Heights | 2026 State MI 6-6 2026 Wyoming Godwin Heights Like Hueker, this was my first time catching this prospect. Also came away very impressed. As smooth and mature of an offensive game as you are going to see in a prospect of this age. Played at his own pace. Never in a hurry and showed excellent footwork. Sometimes you can tell when a player is simply naturally gifted. As opposed to one who has put the work in at the gym. This prospect is probably a mixture of the two. Simply does some things you can’t teach. But is also fundamentally sound. Especially evident in the effortless release on his perimeter shot. New Godwin head coach Bernard Varnesdeel has a good one to build upon.
Jackson Bowden Jackson Bowden 6'4" | PG Davison | 2026 State MI 6-2 2026 Davison Somewhat new Davison Mike Williams head coach continues to welcome talented new players into the program. The early strength of this guards game is versatility. Showed the ability to slide between scoring and playmaking opportunities in scrimmages. Has good size for the backcourt. Appeared taller than his listed height with a sturdy athletic frame. Highly competitive player who was not afraid of contact.
Caleb Claerbaut Caleb Claerbaut 6'7" | C Zeeland East | 2026 State MI 6-7 2026 Zeeland East With his 7-foot older brother watching as a camp counselor. Claerbaut displayed the potential to possibly follow in his path. Already showing the ability to stretch the floor at a young age. Had a smooth and easy release from beyond the arc. Coordinated athlete who moves well for his size. Uses his length to contest at the rim. If I remember right correctly. His brother had a later growth spurt to get to that coveted 7-foot mark. If the younger Claerbaut has a similar spurt. His recruiting profile could similarly take off. A lot to like already. Even if by some chance he is done growing.
