Who are some of the top junior prospects from North Dakota in the Eastern Dakota Conference (EDC)? PHD has those answers! We have 10 players from the 2025 class that you should read about.
Sidenote: North Dakota will have 3 classes next year (AA, A, B). Some of the “traditional” EDC teams are now in class A. Devils Lake has a loaded team but they will be moving down a class and are no longer in the EDC. Wahpeton and Valley City are also moving down to A.
With that being said…This is a talented group of players, all these guys will have a good shot at playing college ball at some level.
EDC Prospects
He is the best player in North Dakota regardless of class. Klabo has offers from UND, NDSU, and UNI. He is also drawing interest from many others. The bad part is, Mason suffered an injury this summer and will not be back until early/mid basketball season. From what I have heard, when Klabo returns, he will be at 100%. Mason is a generational talent that has already been All-State multiple years and he will only be a junior. Klabo’s skill level and understanding of the game is off the charts. If you have not watched him play live, you are missing out! Every time Mason is on the floor, it is must-watch-basketball. Lookout for Mr. Klabo and the Eagles, they will certainly be one of the contenders to win it all next spring.

The BIG man has taken huge steps in the last year. Tommy had a breakout sophomore season for the Mustangs and he will be one of the best low post players this upcoming season as a junior. Ahneman is playing AAU ball with Howard Pulley, the challenge of playing against EYBL competition has only made him better. Tommy played at the MBCA Showcase in June and many coaches named him as a standout. Ahneman was also a standout at Sanford’s Who’s Next Combine. I have been beyond impressed with Tommy’s development in the post, his footwork, and his ability to finish with both hands. Ahneman is so good with his left hand, I had to go back and watch film just to confirm that he is right handed! When doing so, this reminded me that the BIG Mustang can also stretch the floor and hit triples. Get ready for the Ahneman Show this winter at the Mustang Stable, I guarantee that you will be impressed!
He is a physical specimen and Parks will be the MAN for the Roughriders. Pearce was a very nice player last season and he helped Red River finish 2nd at the State Tournament. This coming year, Parks will have the reins to the RR offense and everything will likely be run through him. There is a good reason for that! Pearce is already a veteran, he is a mismatch, and he can score from every level. Parks can also be a lockdown on-ball defender and he will serve as a rim protector. Pearce is also one heck of a football player. He will likely have his choice on which sport he wants to play at the next level.

He helped the Spartans win the State Tournament and he was also named to the All-Tournament team. Matthew is no stranger to making highlight plays. Often times, these splashy sequences come from Mathew delivering a dime or a lob pass to his older brother Jeremiah for a SLAM. Matthew can also get up an WHAM himself. The young Sem can get it going from behind the arc an put up serious points. This spring with ECI, Sem has made noise with massive games where he took over and poured in the buckets. Matthew and the Spartans will be a team to watch this winter & spring, they will be looking to repeat as State Champs!
He has the size, length, and athleticism to be a next-level player. Loria is playing AAU ball with SSA Black and he is balling with some excellent players. I imagine that he is only getting better with his grassroots experience. I have watched Loria play a few times this summer and he shot the ball well from the perimeter. I also saw him throw down some jaw-dropping dunks. Loria will have chance to be a breakout player in the EDC. He will have plenty of chances to become a serious varsity player. Bonfas has size and talent to be special player, can he put it all together? PHD believes so!
He will be one of the top PG’s in class AA. Cole is not the biggest guard or the fastest but he is likely the most crafty. He is smart and he knows how to create space. Cole is a skilled PG that changes speeds to keep the defense off balance. He is a high assist man that can make all the passes. Wilber can also hit the 3-ball on a consistent basis. Late in the game, you want the ball in Cole’s hands. He can hit the big shot or get the ball to the hot hand. Look out for GFC this season, Mr. Wilber will have them fighting for a top 3 spot in the EDC.
His older brother Michael came on strong late in his high school career. I would not be surprised if Zach does something similar. The young Nhial has the length, athleticism, and shooting ability to be a breakout player this coming season. He can rise up and SLAM like a next level athlete and he can impact the game from beyond the arc. Nhial has showed his impactful play in spurts during the AAU season. Once he becomes more consistent, this kid could really be a dude. Zach is absolutely a player to keep eyes on early this winter.
Mr. Cool is having a great offseason. He is working hard in the weight room and that will help on the defensive side and with rebounding. Westphal has a solid handle on the ball and he is a green-light shooter. Brady has extended range, I have seen him hit many triples from NBA depth. His pull-up game is smooth and his floater him is soft & accurate. Expect Mr. Cool to be coming off plenty of screens next season and for his number to get called often when the Hawks are running sets. PHD projects Westphal to be a starter for Horace and a shooter to watch out for in the EDC.

He was a role player for the Spartans last season and key cog in North’s success. Eric has improved his game this offseason and this will only make the Spartans a scarier team. DeBoer is an intriguing player because of his length, athleticism, and versatility. DeBoer makes plays in the paint and on the wing. His long arms get deflections and gather rebounds. His length and bounce make Eric an impressive finisher and he can shoot over most defenders from 3-point land. I watched DeBoer earlier this week and he looked good shooting the triple and when slashing to the rack. The Spartans are scary and DeBoer is a lethal weapon.
He is playing with the top Sanford Sports Academy team in AAU and is surrounded by impressive talent. I have heard very good reports about Sully’s play and I have seen him pass the ball in impressive fashion. Ihry has a sweet pull-up game and is deadly off one dribble. He is skilled with the ball and he knows the game well. Sully will have a good chance at the starting PG position for the Mustangs this winter. Will Ihry have the Mustangs ready to compete for a top spot in the EDC?
