The third annual DMV Live had their first session this past weekend, and they added a new wrinkle with a play in tournament on Thursday. D2 and D3 coaches were allowed to attend, as 8 teams battled it out for the final four spots to play in front of D1 schools on the weekend.

Here's a look at some of the standouts I saw on Thursday from the MD teams.

Kingston Price | 6'1” PG | Severn 2024

Price opened the play-in tournament with a bang, as he caught fire early for Severn in their win over Sandy Springs and set the tone early. He shot the ball very well early hitting 4 three-pointers in the first half, he showed the ability to create space from deep and in the midrange and he handled pressure well and controlled the tempo for them as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2340842' first='Daniel' last='Growney'] | 6'0” CG | Severn 2025

Growney was Severn's most consistent and productive player on the day, and was a big reason for them winning their first game against Sandy Springs where he had 19 points and 9 rebounds. He plays very hard as his motor never stops and he will fight for every extra possession and opportunity to help his team, he scored it well from multiple levels shooting it well from deep and getting downhill where he finished and he was an efficient scorer who still did the little things to help his team. He averaged 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in their two games.

[player_tooltip player_id='1588121' first='Sean' last='Harvey'] | 6'3” CG | Severn 2026

Harvey is going to be a player to watch in the 2026 class in Maryland, as he has shown the ability to score the ball at a high rate while also running the show and making others better. He's a strong guard who can get downhill and play through contact, he is a good rebounder for his position and he can make tough shots from all over the floor both off the catch and off the bounce. He finished the two games averaging 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1411084' first='Jake' last='Tringone'] | 6'7” PF | Sandy Springs 2024

It was unfortunate that Sandy Springs wasn't able to make it to session one after losing to Severn in their first game, because I would have loved to watch Tringone more after his impressive outing. He's a high motor forward who is an inside-out threat, he is tough and gritty fighting for rebounds and loose balls and he can score the ball in the paint in traffic and above the rim. He finished the two games averaging 15 points , 12.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1366890' first='Brendan' last='Johnson'] | 6'4” CG | Calvert Hall 2024

Johnson made a name for himself on the weekend for Calvert Hall, as he was their top reason for making session 1 and even hit the go ahead shot in overtime to send them there. He can flat out fill it up with the best of them as he has good size and can get to spots off the bounce where he can make tough shots from multiple levels, he's a very good rebounder for a guard and he sets his teammates up well with good vision and passing ability. He finished the two games averaging 18.5 points, 7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1366900' first='Devin' last='Minor'] | 5'10” PG | Rock Creek White 2024

Minor has quietly been one of the more underrated point guards in the DMV, and he showed once again with a great showing in the play-in games and was one of the more efficient point guards in attendance. He handled pressure well and got them into their sets using his IQ to make the right read consistently, he scored the ball well off the bounce showcasing a great middle game and the ability to make shots from deep and he was excellent on the defensive end too. He finished the two games averaging 17.5 points, 4 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game.

Mekhi Polk | 5'9” PG | Rock Creek White 2024

Polk was running in the backcourt with Minor, and their combined effort made it difficult for anyone to stop and was the main reason they made it to session 1. The 5'9” point guard is an absolute blur with a great first step and blazing speed in transition, he touches the paint and has the ability to finish over bigger defenders, he can knock down shots from deep and has great instincts defensively. He finished the two games averaging 19 points and 5 steals per game.
