There were many standouts throughout the event, and plenty of offers were thrown around as well. Here’s a look at part one of the 2024 standouts from the Virginia schools in attendance.
Elijah Adegbenro Elijah Adegbenro 6'4" | PF Fairfax Christian | 2024 State VA | 6’5” PF | Fairfax Christian
Adegbenro had a fantastic weekend as he showed his all-around production and big time athleticism with some extremely impressive plays. While he’s a little undersized he’s strong and explosive allowing him to make plays against bigger defenders, he’s fearless when attacking the rim and he won’t hesitate to put it on someone’s head, he is a versatile defender who makes plays and he’s extremely efficient and sticks to his game. He finished the event averaging 17 points on 58% shooting, 9.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.
Doyle Brown Doyle Brown 6'1" | SG Bethel Academy | 2024 State VA | 6’2” WG | Fairfax Christian
Brown is one of the most underrated two guards in the DMV, and he has having a good summer and continued that with a good showing at DMV Live. The 6’2” wing has a strong frame and is able to play on and off the ball, he shoots it well from deep and has the ability to create space and make tough shots and he’s a good on ball defender who moves his feet and challenges shots. He finished the event averaging 15.3 points and 2.8 assists per game.
Nijel Howard Nijel Howard 6'6" | PF Fairfax Christian | 2024 State VA | 6’7” PF | Fairfax Christian
Howard has shown great improvement over the past few years, and he’s continuing to be productive and show a lot of versatility on the offensive end. At 6’7” he has an inside-out game with the ability to knock down shots from deep and in the midrange, he is mobile and runs the floor well, he can post up and finish at the rim and he is a good rim protector too. He finished the event averaging 12.5 points, 5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.
Jadyn Harris Jadyn Harris 6'6" | PF Bishop O'Connell | 2024 State #239 Nation VA | 6’6” PF | Bishop O’Connell
O’Connell has a very talented team that will be a tough out in the WCAC, and when they need someone to take over Harris showed he’s capable of that. He’s a consistently productive player with a versatile skillset as he can score the ball from all three levels, he can put it on the deck and get to different spots on the floor, he rebounds well and he is at his best when his team needs him the most. He averaged 13.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, but in their two games Saturday he finished with 19 points and 6 rebounds on 61.5% shooting in their win over Georgetown Prep and 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists on 70% shooting in their win over Bullis.
Blake Neal Blake Neal 6'6" | PF St. Stephen's & St. Agnes | 2024 State VA | 6’5” WF | St. Stephen’s St. Agnes
Neal was very good this weekend, as he has continued to develop and round out his game to where he can score it in different ways and is very productive with his high motor. He has good positional size and is a very good rebounder for his position, he thrives in transition with his athleticism and he gets downhill and finishes well and he plays very hard on both ends of the floor. He finished the event averaging 15 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
Mekai Johnson | 6’5” WG | Bishop Ireton
Johnson has had a great summer and continues to develop and get better every time we see him, and he was super productive on both ends of the floor. The 6’5” wing has a great frame and is a big time athlete who can lock down defenders and jump passing lanes, he shot the ball well from deep and got to the rim where he finished well and he rebounded the ball well for his position. He finished the event averaging 17.3 points on 51% shooting making 3 three-pointers, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game.
