Hawks Play Well:
The Hanahan HS Hawks made the trip over to Georgetown County for games today. Hawks Head Coach Rob Mammes had to be happy. The Hawks have a young roster including Dru Goldsmith Dru Goldsmith 5'11" | PG Hanahan | 2025 State SC , Justin Maduro Justin Maduro 6'5" | PF Hanahan | 2025 State SC and Jackson Wilber Jackson Wilber 6'0" | PG Hanahan | 2027 State SC . Goldsmith a point guard has the most experience on this roster. He was able to touch the paint and get the ball into the gaps today.
Maduro is a very athletic and bouncy forward who really moves quite well around the floor. Justin showed to have good footwork and a willingness to stay active at all time.
Wilber is a youngster but surely plays mature for his age. Jackson was able to distribute the rock here today to several of his teammates while using his frame well to fight off defenders.
Jonah Auckenthaler Jonah Auckenthaler 6'7" | PF Hanahan | 2024 State SC is a very agile forward who can play inside-out on the floor. Jonah still needs to get stronger down the road with his frame.
Can the Hawks make some noise this season in Class 3A?
The Cougars Bring the Pressure:
Head Coach Tony Eady has been back and forth with the Cougars program over the years. When you think North Charleston HS you think great defense, ball pressure, excitement and Coach Eady. Can the Cougars make a run in the Lower State this coming year?
The Cougars have a lot of bodies to throw at an opponent on given night. Senior guard Ethen Cobin-Willis Ethen Cobin-Willis 6'1" | SG North Charleston | 2024 State SC is best playing as a off guard with his quick release from the behind the three-point line. Tyrell Gadsden plays Quarterback on the football team in the fall for the Cougars. Gadsden a point guard really looks to make his teammates happy with is distribution of the basketball. Senior guard Onarae Grant Onarae Grant 5'10" | PG North Charleston | 2024 State SC was out of action here today with stomach bug according to the coaching staff.
Michael Jordan Michael Jordan 6'4" | PF North Charleston | 2025 State SC a left-handed undersized post brings some toughness and determination down in the paint. Jordan will battle and carve out position down low on the block. He really brings a blue-collar attitude to the hardwood with his work ethic.
Marco Simpson Marco Simpson 6'1" | CG North Charleston | 2026 State SC is a very slender-sleek athlete who is more likely to pick up several deflections in the passing lanes all day long. Simpson has a long wingspan to create some hassle at times. Marco plays Wide Receiver in the fall on the Cougars football team.
The Saints Look to Rebuild
The Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach Saints lost 9 kids to graduation from last season. The Saints will be just fine this coming season after all playing in SCISA Class 3A. The Saints have plenty of perimeter shooting and just lack size in the post.
Brayden Hendrix Brayden Hendrix 6'0" | CG Christian Academy Of Myrtle Beach | 2025 State SC returns to the mix with a new fresh haircut and another year of experience under his belt. Hendrix plays the games with some swagger and confidence at times. He has looked to put some muscle on his body this off season.
Jack Green Jack Green 6'3" | SG Christian Academy Of Myrtle Beach | 2025 State SC is back for another year for the Saints squad. Green lefthanded guard gives the Saints more shooting from the perimeter. Green and Hendrix will provide plenty of leadership on the roster for Head Coach Buzz Busby.
Aubrey Hall Aubrey Hall 6'2" | PG Christian Academy Of Myrtle Beach | 2026 State SC and Ayden Leith Ayden Leith 5'11" | CG Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach | 2028 SC will both be new names to follow this coming season for the Saints. Hall was out last season with an injury. Hall just a sophomore showed some good versatility to play wherever needed today. He was able to handle the rock at times today and when needed to defend almost anywhere on the floor.
Leith will be just an 8th grader and a member of the Class of 2028. Ayden a left-handed guard showed some craftiness and savvy from the backcourt. He was able to finish through contact on the way to the cup. He constantly made smart reads and good decisions here today with the ball.
Trojans Look Young:
Green Sea Floyds HS Jared Caudill begins his second season at the helm this fall for the Trojans. The Trojans recently lost Jones Lay Jones Lay 6'10" | PF Atlantic Collegiate Academy | 2025 State SC to Atlantic Collegiate Academy in Myrtle Beach.
The Trojans will rely on a football player and some youngsters to this season. Undersized post Demarian Mitchell Demarian Mitchell 6'4" | PF Green Sea Floyds | 2024 State SC plays tight end on the football field in the fall for the Trojans. Demarian has a nice set of shoulders and good footwork to move around the court. He certainly looks the part for the Class 1A level to be handful at times. Mitchell likes to play face-up and out on the perimeter.
Two guards who could see plenty of minutes this season look to be Tahj Brown Tahj Brown 5'9" | PG Green Sea Floyds | 2026 State SC and Jayden Crawford Jayden Crawford 5'7" | PG Green Sea Floyds | 2028 SC . Brown a sophomore to be is while Crawford will be just a 8th grader – member of the Class of 2028.

Who were some members of the 2024 Class in attendance here today at Bear Jam?
Ty Stanley Ty Stanley 6'4" | SF Georgetown | 2024 State SC will be counted on heavily this season for the Georgetown HS Bulldogs to make some moves in region play. The athletic wing player has been on the Grassroots Circuit this past spring with Upward Stars Pee Dee. Stanley plays his best basketball along the baseline and attacking the cup at times. Ty has good length and plenty of bounce to go with it.
Antonio Kingcade Antonio Kingcade 5'11" | PG Kingstree | 2024 State SC really understands how to use a screen and turn the corner at times from the point guard position. Antonio will guide the ship for the Kingstree HS Blazers this season and first year Head Coach Tony Dunkin. He really understands on how to make reads and never looks to force the issue. Antonio was able to drop a few floaters today when he wasn’t connecting on some short mid-range jumpers.
Prep Hoops will make another trip out to Carvers Bay HS later this month both on the boy’s and girl’s side for the Bear Jam. Stay tune right here for all the best basketball coverage in the Palmetto State all year long.
