Isaac Asuma Isaac Asuma 6'3" | PG Cherry | 2024 State #102 Nation MN of Cherry (2024). Let’s keep it short and quick: Asuma shot 27 of 43 for the weekend making nine threes and averaging nearly 24 points a game with 19 boards and 19 assists overall. He was by far the most dominant player at the Class A basketball level, and to take it a step further, he was the best player in the event all around and it really wasn’t even close last weekend.
Isaiah Asuma Isaiah Asuma 5'11" | SG Cherry | 2027 State MN of Cherry (2027). Isaiah played some of the best basketball I’ve seen him play at the event giving Isaac a consistent number two perimeter option. The series that most stood out was the three times in two minutes that Asuma got a steal and went coast to coast to score. Overall he scored 36 points in three games shooting 17 of 22 for the weekend.
Blake Christianson of RTR (2024). Blake was in that fifth starter/6th man area role for the state champs last year and is now stepping into the ball handler spot. He looked very comfortable for his team handling the basketball running a steady offense and getting to the corner turn. Scored 17 points making half of his 14 shots against Cherry.
Jack Gross Jack Gross 6'5" | SG BOLD | 2025 State MN of BOLD (2025). Jack Gross Jack Gross 6'5" | SG BOLD | 2025 State MN made a statement last weekend. Jack is a 6’3/6’4 skilled guard that has a good looking perimeter jumper, he handled for his team when I saw them play, and he has a straight line lift to the rim that led to a couple physical one hand throw downs. With size at guard, athletic ability to score 24 with variety against Cherry, and a skill base that catches the eye, Jack is a budding prospect to know. Good quarterback prospect too.
Alex Lester Alex Lester 6'7" | C Nevis | 2025 State MN of Nevis (2025). Alex gave his team something that others at the Class A level didn’t have and that was post presence. He finished around the rim four to six times a game, knocked out some foul shots, grabbed a quality amount of boards including nine against Cherry, and he contested shots in the paint. He was a difference maker for the runner up.
Noah Sundquist Noah Sundquist 6'3" | SF Cherry | 2025 State MN of Cherry (2025). Before sitting with an injury Noah had games of 17 points making 6 of 8 field goals with three threes against RTR and 20 point scores on 9 of 12 shooting in the win over BOLD. Noah made 16 of 21 for the weekend not only slashing to the cup but the handful of jumpers he took for the weekend went as well.
Drew Werkman Drew Werkman 6'4" | PF RTR | 2024 State MN of RTR (2024). If you track this site and my twitter you know that I am a Drew Werkman Drew Werkman 6'4" | PF RTR | 2024 State MN fan. He’s a reliable and productive 6’4/6’5 strong forward that puts up double-doubles. This past weekend with RTR we also saw Drew face-up and hit some longer mid-range jumpers as well as a three. That’s big for Drew as he becomes a more versatile player and prospect.
