One underclassman stood out, while the upperclassmen stole the show.
Here’s the best from Saturday:
2026
Keeper Jackson, Christian Brothers: Jackson’s head coach Bubba Luckett mentioned to me earlier this week that the rising sophomore has taken a leap in his game. Well, in a win over Boyd Buchanan, the 6-foot-7 wing shot the ball extremely well and did a great job of finishing at the rim. Jackson was very active on both ends of the floor and communicated well with his teammates. He was very engaged on every possession. That’s what growth looks like.
2025
JaDyn Lee, Munford: Lee loves to attack the paint. He did a great job of that in an early scrimmage against Notre Dame. Lee’s atheticism, quick, first-step, and under controlled ball handles allowed him to live in the paint for most of the contest. Just to be clear, Lee can make shots from the perimeter. It’s just his bread and butter is getting into the lane and finishing. He has the body to take contact.
Eli Patrick, Munford: The 5-11 shooting guard can stroke it from deep. Patrick was one of the best shooters on the floor Saturday. Every shot he took was a good one, and looked as if all were going to fall. Patrick is a prospect to watch for in his class.
Christian Brown, Franklin: The 6-6 forward is a handful in the paint. Brown does a great job of being in great position to score. On the defensive end, he alters a lot of shots. Brown runs the floor well. He’s definitely a difference maker on the court.
Sam Mewborn, Franklin: The 6-2 guard shot the ball well against Alcoa. If I had to guess, Mewborn shot over 40 percent from 3. He had a lot of great looks, thanks in the part to his team’s great ball movement. Mewborn is a reliable guy on this roster.
2024
Sam Medalie, Franklin: Medalie is the perfect floor general for this Admirals ball club. The fit is solid because of willingness to execute the play all the way through. If the play breaks down, Medalie can still go make something happen.
Davis Long, Franklin: Long, Medalie, and Mewborn are all solid players. Long completes the group, with his ability to drain shots from the perimeter. He has a beautiful shot release. Long moves well without the basketball. The Admirals play with high energy and as long as the two key seniors (Long and Medalie) start games off with a high boost, Franklin will play deep into next March.
Parker Robison, McCallie: The 5-10 point guard had one of the most complete games on Saturday against Centennial. Robison missed no more than two shots all game. He recorded a good amount of assists. Robison made things look easy, barely breaking a sweat. He’s a solid player.
