Elite prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania (and beyond) continue the annual ritual of announcing that they will be changing high schools for next year. With the NCAA transfer portal jamming up high school recruiting, we expect there will be a host of extremely talented players who switch schools this spring/summer. Many of them will reclass into a later graduation year.

Below is the fifth installment in our Transfer Watch 2023 series.

[player_tooltip player_id='1477738' first='Su-Meer' last='Alleyne'] – 6'3” / Junior / Friends Central / [program_tooltip program_id='2078678' first='East' last='Coast Power'] / Combo Guard: In 2022-23 Alleyne started 20 games for PCL contender Archbishop Carroll. He averaged 5.5 points and 4 rebounds per game. On offense Alleyne operated mostly in the mid-range where his jumper and drives from the elbows were effective weapons. At the other end Alleyne typically guarded much larger players and di it well. In addition to transferring, Alleyne will reclass into 2025 graduate year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1812532' first='Jackson' last='Gaffney'] – 6'8″ / Senior / Rocktop Academy / [program_tooltip program_id='2078678' first='East' last='Coast Power'] / Shooting Guard: After missing nine games at the start of the 2022-23 season with a foot injury, Gaffney returned to help Radnor win the District 1-5A title and advance to the state tourney quarterfinals. He scored a season high 21 points (5 threes) in that game. Yesterday Gaffney announced via social media that he will take his accurate 3-point stroke, timely passing skills and ability to elevate quickly for a slam to Rocktop Academy for a post graduate year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1990922' first='Jacob' last='Hudson'] – 6'3″ / Senior / Phelps School / JL3 EYBL / Combo Guard: The first items one notices about Hudson are his obvious physical gifts. He possesses length, a solid frame, athleticism, and serious hops. For a “big guard” he displays a blazing first step and excellent lateral quickness. Hudson gets to the rim with ease via dribble drives or by playing bully ball. As a bonus, this lefty will drain spot-up triples. Hudson spent the 2022-23 season at iSchool Lewisville in Texas where he averaged 16 ppg.

[player_tooltip player_id='2028258' first='Matt' last='McCarthy'] – 6'2″ / Junior / Episcopal Academy / [program_tooltip program_id='2078678' first='East' last='Coast Power'] / Shooting Guard: McCarthy is a hard-nosed guard who can splash jumpers from behind the arc all day. He can also serve as a primary ball handler if needed. At the other end, McCarthy is major plus player who defends for 94 feet. This past winter at Archmere Academy (DE) he averaged 16.9 points per night and posted 20 or more points on seven separate occasions. McCarthy netted a season high 26 points against AI Dupont (DE). On top of transferring to Episcopal, McCarthy will drop back to the Class of 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='1281966' first='Namisse' last='Musonge'] – 6'4″ / Junior / Academy of New Church / NJ Shoreshots Elite / Wing: This long and athletic prospect will depart Abington Friends after three years and jump to ANC. Plus, Musonge will reclass into the 2025 graduate year. Musonge is mid-range jumper shot-maker and in 2022-23 he showed flashes of range out to the 3-point arc. His bag of tricks now includes a few quick dribble drive moves that get him to the cup. Once at the rim, Musonge is a creative finisher who can score with either hand.
