Now let's look at what some top hoopers did at state track:

[player_tooltip player_id='1454197' first='Tre' last='Richardson'], 5-foot-9 guard, 2023, Highland Park:

Richardson is ranked in the top 100 hoopers in the 2023 class, and basketball is his third-best sport. The record setting football star continued to lay a claim to the fastest man, and best track athlete, in the state. He turned the fastest time of all classes in the 100 meter dash with a 10.73. He won the 5A long jump and placed second in the triple jump.

[player_tooltip player_id='1270271' first='Tanner' last='Heckel'], 5-foot-11 guard, 2024, Inman:

Were it not for Richardson's brilliance in track and field, we would be marveling at the diversity of Heckel's talents. Also a football star, Heckel did it all at the 2A state track meet: first in the long jump and the triple jump, second in the 100 meters and third in javelin.

Jason Parrish and Josh Parrish, 5-foot-10 guards, 2023, Olathe North:

The Eagles had such a wealth of guards this past season that at times the Parris twins didn't get the recognition they deserved. They were ball hawks and defensive dynamos who helped guide the up-tempo team to the state tournament. They never cracked the Prep Hoops basketball rankings for the 2023 class, but we know what all-around stars these guys are. What they did on the track last weekend was historic. Josh won the 6A long jump and the 110 meter hurdles and placed second in the 300 meter hurdles. Jason won the 300 meter hurdles and finished second to his brother the 110 meter hurdles.

[player_tooltip player_id='1212165' first='Alec' last='Carlson'], 6-foot-1 guard, 2023, Pawnee Heights

We've always known that Carlson has serious spring. The brilliant 1A scorer showed off his hops one last time at the state track meet. He won the long jump and took second in the high jump and triple jump.
